I use (used to use) both BurningDiku and AnotherMUD on th NEXT systems at
cas.muohio.edu and I was wondering something: If I understand it right,
Burning is down because the coders are busy with other things until the
end of the summer (next5 is a site without a mud) and Another MUD is down
because the next2 is down (Another is a mud without a site) Sooo my
question is this, why don't the Imps from both sites switch servers? The
addresses are practically the same (except for 1 number) so the users
shouldn't have a difficult time switching, and by the time the Burning
crew decide to re-incarnate Burning, the next2 would hopefully be on-line
again (and they could switch back or stay where they are).

Of course I'm saying this completely ignorant of how muds and sites
operate, and if this is truely logistically impossible, then I apoligize
for getting other ignorant mudders hopes up. But if it is possible, then
please try it. I'm all done with school now and I don't feel like
starting out as leacherous newbie again (there's no way to adequate gain
levels without leeching off of the kindness of higher level players on
most Muds I've found unfortunately).

Nonetheless, any updates on either mud would be greatly appreciated
Sincerly, Maus (a mudder without a mud)

Hmm...Allow me to explain something that you would have never known about.

next2 is names Greed. Greed is down because the hard drive crashed. All the
code and databases on it are *GONE*, as in, the great beyond, the bit bucket
in the sky.

it could be as easy as swapping sites, if another actually had back-up code.

[the rest deleted to conserve already wasted bandwidth...]

I'll waste a bit more... It's true, all the "Binary" files are lost, that
means playerfiles/objfiles/bankfiles and stuff - However:
We _still_ have the code - In it's most recent version, as we actually
were developing the mud at our own accounts, and not at the running site.
