Description :
MUD 2 is based on the original MUD 1 by Richard Bartle and Roy Trubshaw.
It has been under development since 1979 and Richard Bartle continues to
refine and expand it. The theme is a mythical/D&D adventure style which
encourages player killing. The system is based on levels from novice to
wiz - 11 levels in all. New levels are attained by gaining points and
completing Quests/Tasks. It is possible to become immortal (Wiz) and have
options available to you which mortals do not. For example, task/quest
creation is encouraged among wizzes. Wizzes can create things online with
the excellent interpreted object based language.

There are 4 streams of levels, normals, normal magic users, protected
normal users, and protected magic users. The protected levels cannot attack
other players or be attacked but they also cannot reach wizhood. The game
is reset based, that is the game resets every 2 hours or so and all the items
reset to starting positions which usually vary. The only things carried over
into the next reset are your points and level status. This makes for fast,
action-packed resets!

MUD 2 is friendly to newbies and players normally give lots of help and
hints to newcomers. The killing of very low level players and newbies is
discouraged until they reach level 3.

Storyline: After the fall of Klael and Cyrgon at the hidden city of Cyrga,
the forbidden marriage of Sephrenia to Vanion, and the ascent of the Delphae
Delphae unto the heavens to join with their god - Edaemus, the heroes set on
their seperate journeys home. Anakha MUX is one version of how the rest of
the story may have gone, and is still going. The Knights went back to their
Motherhouses for preparation of a gathering at Chryellos. The gathering was to
help bring the orders closer together, give a little respite, and as well give
the preceptors a chance to explain the happenings to Dolmant. Emperor Sarabian
sent a request back with Sparhawk, to establish a permanent chapter of each
order within Matherion. He quickly dispatched of all of his wives whom had
plotted his demise, and alongside Elysoun, he regained control of his empire.
When you begin the game, you will appear aproximately five years after the
battle of Bhelliom and Klael at Cyrga.

Core 2696 is based in the year 2696 A.D. on a remote planet
(the inhabitants simply call it the Core) at the edge of
currently explored space. The settlement was originally
established as a mining colony. However, the miners, refiners,
and other workers revolted and ousted The Company. The leaders
of this rebellion are now known as Citizens, and they are in
financial and political control.

As a Curmudgeon (player), your goal is to accumulate enough
experience, wealth and power to eventually allow you to become
a Citizen. Citizens, in turn, vie against each other for
ultimate political control (wealth, resources, etc...).
Core 2696 features a player-run merchant shop system,
futuristic races, occupational classes, and guilds. A
mass-transit system allows you to quickly travel from one
Citizen's dome to the next. Everything in the entire game is
completely mappable on graph paper (no overlapping areas).
Player-killing is allowed, but only in designated arenas. (Other
players can bet on the outcome as the computer lays odds!)

Darker Realms is quite possibly the oldest LP style mud in the
USA. Started in early 1990, DR has never been down for more than

Death's Domain is a heavily modified Diku Mud, which features

Nick, Macleod, and Clubber... all of whom played on the famous
Epic mud (1991-1993), and invested a lot of the popular
qualities of Epic into Death's Domain's code (or DD as we call

DesertWings is a MUSH based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern (tm)
Series; it's set in the 11th Pass, three IC Turns before Threadfall. It
doesn't follow the Aivas timeline (obviously), though technology, as in the
books, is always developing; steamboats, clocks, and crude batteries have just
been rediscovered. DWings is a very RP-oriented MU*; communication between the
players and the Wizards is comsidered very important, and new ideas and
Tinyplots are encouraged. It's a new MU*, but growing quickly, and there are

Our Mush is based on the Tolkien series, The Hobbit, and the LOTR,
although we do follow what Tolkien has written, we don't follow the books
exactly, as that would be boring, and we'd need to restart every year.

dwarves, elves, humans (haradrim, gondorions, rohanians and more) trolls,

Elephant Mud is many years old now, based on what was at the
time, Nightmare 2(ish). Originally set up as one of the
first UK based LPMuds, it was created to allow the UK mudder a site
free from the terrible net lag that exists from time to time
between Europe and the US.

Elephant has several thousand players, with peak usage last
academic year of around 65. This was an artifical limit imposed
by Admin, which has now been raised to about 150.
The Mud is based on a blend of traditional Advanced Dungeons
and Dragons and a variant of the more normal skill based
advancement system. Combat, magic and the like thus have a
somewhat different feel than on many of our contemporaries.
In genre, it is set heavily in a fantasy medieval era, with
Warmages, Druids, Fighters and the like battling the forces
of evil as they encroach on the central town of Drakenwood.
Some players, naturally, are working behind the scenes to
further these forces.

Living on the Sapphire Dragon Outpost space station can be exciting at
first, but even station dwellers can get a little bored from time to time.
That's when you use the Holobooths to travel to exotic, distant worlds. At
the place where you start the game, you can type "list" to get a listing of
the simulations available for you to run. As an experienced player you can
travel to Dragon's rock to test not only your skills, but also your
knowledge. As a new player you can travel to Dreamland and become an alien
flying through an asteroid field, or visit Triteq's Funland and ride the
tallest virtual ferris wheel!

The implementors of HoloMUD have striven to make Holo as original a mud
as possible. Ninety-five percent of the areas on Holo are original, created
and/or rewritten by immortals currently playing the game. The code itself
is mainly original, originally based loosely on circle/diku style code and
is very stable, and the races themselves are original as well. Holo needs
rebooting every few days only because something new is being added.
There's no hunger or thirst, and no cost to rent. What is also nice
is that you can rent anywhere on your home station, the Sapphire Dragon
Outpost. All you have to do is recall by hitting the / on your keyboard,
then type rent. HoloMUD also uses a credit system, instead of using gold
or experience, which makes the system a bit more friendly.

HoloMUD has several quest areas which can be ran to gain skills, spells,
and cool equipment. Holo also has weekly quests which you can participate
in and gain quest points from to use to trade in for equipment. We also
have clans, with mortals as the clan leaders, and immortals as sponsors.
HoloMUD is mainly a friendly mud, with PK allowed only for certain quests,
but if you like the adrenaline rush of PKing, we also have Assassins. When
you obtain our highest mortal level and a certain number of credits, you
can join the Assassins Guild. Assassins can freely attack each other except
for certain safe places.

HoloMUD keeps a small, dedicated immortal staff who are committed to
listening to input from the players. Be sure to type 'help faq1' and 'help
faq2' (without the quotes) when you first log on. And be sure to visit our
Newbie school your first time on the game to learn more about the game and
get some equipment to begin with.

The theme of The Marches of Antan is heroic fantasy. Antan
combines roleplaying and problem-solving with detailed and
unique stat, skill, combat, and magic systems for the
complete swords-and-sorcery mudding experience. Antan dates
from 1991, one of the older muds now in existence, though its
driver and mudlib have been repeatedly updated over the years.

The Marches offers extraordinary levels of detail and
consistency. Compared with most other muds, the number
and severity of bugs and typos is negligible. Other attractions
of the Marches include player-owned Houses, factions, and
guilds. The Marches welcomes prospective Wizards, but all
candidates for wizard status must complete the traditional
Quest requirements.

Player killing is permitted, but only amongst those players who

RavenMUD is actually a mud that has been kicking around for years. It was
originally started by a handful of people from DaShadow's Domain and ShadowMUD.
Since its first incarnation it has been through many rebirths and transitions.
I seem to recall bringing up the first version under a modified Copper release,
but I'm not even sure of that anymore.

Some of the features that are currently in place or being developed:
10 classes; 12 races; 50 mortal levels; 100+ areas; clans; user features
such as saved aliases, shorthand names to ease amount of typing, future
GNU readline support; a new OLC system that is under development.

A playerfile that will live forever which is one of the solemn promises
I made as an IMP back in the early days. When expanding or moving,the pfile
is always the first concern. We don't allow no steenkin purges.

Hack!? Slash!? Of course, we're DIKU! While at lower levels we're
a "run of the mill DIKU", we have some beautifully crafted areas with
plenty of puzzles and intrigue that are available to the more powerful
characters. Other features include:

* ANSI color, fully customizable and user realizable. Descriptions,
titles, says, tells, battle actions, etc. can all be chosen and set
by embedding color codes within your text, or by global settings that
save.
* 10 Classes (though this will change soon--heh..whenever my job slows
down).
* Perhaps not inovative, but at least more powerful engine than the
original Gamma DIKU, allowing for more complex control underneath the
hood (i.e. providing those higher level intrigues and puzzles). Sure
gamma does this, but Ronin's is cleaner.
* Active player base, usually 30-40 playes on during peak hours.
Online editing for those who like to build. (still in the 'debugging'
stages.
* Currently actively pursuing a C++/object oriented server based on the
conceptual aspects of DIKU gamma.

SPR is a freestyle furry-oriented MUCK. It does not have a

StarMOO 4088 is a loose sequel set 120 years after the original StarMOO.

StarMOO 4088 is a new game, and there are high ranking positions left in
many organizations. A date for full IC action has not yet been set, but
the players who come now will be those who get to contribute to the game's
'style'.

StickMUD has been online from June 17th, 1991. We have over 50
player levels, and the main reason for playing is to have fun
and keep playing, since we don't have automagic coderhood.
Actually we were one of the very first to introduce continued
player levels, we started it in about August, 1991.
We have many non-standard (in LPMUDs) features:

* Sitting and resting heal you like in DikuMUDS.
* Except for the main city and some sanctuaries the whole mud
is a player killing area. If killed by a player, one loses only
a fraction of experience compared to monster kills and no
stats.
* We have some minor quests that players have to complete
before advancing to certain levels. Typically these are far
more easier than normal quests and may have some "mud
educational" purposes like introducing areas etc.

There are many more features that differ StickMUD from other
muds. Perhaps the biggest difference is that we have very "old"
players, so that players that have been over 50 days logged in
are not rare. Players do enjoy playing StickMUD.
At the moment we have six guilds: Fighters, Thieves, Priests,
Mages, Necromancers and Ninjas.

The Turning Point is an interesting pk MUD. The thing most different about
The Turning Point is the wide range of people you find here. We have many
Immortals that lead various clans. Examples of these clans are The Brotherhood,
led by the head IMP Tyorl, Harmonium led by the Angel Reena, and The Knights
of Apocalypse, led by IMP Morgath. Newly installed is the religion system in
which pc's choose a god to worship and pray to. In addition to membership,
pc's get the scar(mark) of the God they worship. The big rule here at The
Turning Point is Role Playing. This is the aspect that makes every MUD fun.

Bad RP'ing will be punished harshly by Immortals so this enforces the fact that
others who are in the spirit of In Character playing can continue to have fun
and not worry about anyone ruining their game. In addition to the standard races
out IMP's have added pixies, drow, minotaurs and one or two others. In addition
to the standard classes our IMP's have added rangers, avernons, pandions,
spellfilchers and a few others. We have many many areas and are continually
