I was on the town level and decided to play around with a wand of polymorph.
(This will hereinafter be referred to as "Mistake #1.") I turned a boil-
covered wretch to a skull druj. Then I made for the staircase. When I stepped
onto the staircase, the druj cast a plasma ball. I tried to go downstairs.
I was informed that there was no staircase. Indeed, the ball had eaten the
staircase. This [destroying staircases] could quite potentially make it
impossible to get off of a level. If it was intentional that the spell work
that way, I'd recommend that it be reconsidered--destroying staircases is not
a Good Thing To Do (tm) in my book...
