Posted new scans of my swooping hawk exarch, wraithguard, a friends kharn
the betrayer, ezekiel, also a couple of the older pics are still up. I'm
still working on my painting, some of these are slated to be stripped again
for repainting, just because I'm ghetto poor and I cant afford to buy new
stuff, heh, go figgure. I just finished stripping my seer council I plan on
restarting its paintjob soon as I get a couple (non sick) days off of work.

Can I ask a favor? Can you write the code so it works with Netscape
(4.7+)?

I see no pictures when I use Netscape, and I *HATE* IE!!

Thanks

This I like. Good colors, tho the power Sword and gun get "lost" in the rest of
the model, which is bad. Sword and gun should contrast more with the rest of
the scheme. Wings are uninteresting, "flat", should have more color, or a
fade, or something.

>wraithguard,

These are also mostly OK. The helmets are great, but should be brighter -- the
lightning strike should go all the way to white, IMO. The loincloths don't
contrast well with the bodies -- should be brighter, like the helmet is now.
As with the Exarch, the guns don't contrast, get lost in the bodies. Spirit
stones are "lazy", don't add needed color. Contrasting knees, ankles, elbows,
and shoulders "break up" the model into small pieces, destroy unity -- would
prefer to restore these to body color.

In both cases, the eye has a very hard time following the model and making out
what's what.

>a friends kharn the betrayer,

Painted like the Codex. OK, tho skin tone doesn't seem right. Gold chains
don't seem "rough" enough. Brass trimming seems a bit bright.

Painted like the Codex. OK. As with the Kharne, it's hard to paint this
badly.

Already commented on.

That being Microsoft's IE is better at error trapping than Netscape.

Then again it has to be considering how horrible FrontPage is at writing
HTML...

Maybe some sort of a lightning scheme on them like the wraithguard helmets?,
what else would you suggest I do with the gun? paint them more brightly? the
sword? some kind of a metal color? I have yet to of obtained a color wheel,
so i'm still sort of at a loss.

Again, this is because I have a hard time choosing contrasting colors, maybe
I should use a brighter purple on the body? and do the lightning all the way
white. hmm...okay, sounds good. The problem with the lightning is that it
doesnt show up very well on the bright colors. Paint the loincloth the same
color as the head? or the purple I choose for the body? I really at a loss
for how to paint the guns. Again, I really need to obtain a color wheel like
you reccomended. The spirit stones? I couldnt pick a color with them, but I
am thinking that a green may contrast well with the model....I may try Dr
Faust's technique with the gems

I actually painted him a bit dirtyier than the codex, because he didnt look
like he had been in battle in the picture, and I am painting the dark angels
inner circle (because I am starting the army and I like the character figs)
so I wanted to follow the book

And I always appreciate your commentation, you are very helpful.

That would be fine. Or even just a higer-contrast drybrush effect. I'm not
sure lighting works for the wings, but it might be worth a try!

>what else would you suggest I do with the gun? paint them more brightly? the
>sword? some kind of a metal color?

Any sort of contrast works. You can go dark/light, metal/non-metal, or opposed
colors -- I'd just like to see the weapons visually differentiated from the
rest of the model. Personally, I use metallics for all weapons, as that's what
people sort of "expect" to see for these things.

>>I have yet to of obtained a color wheel,
>so i'm still sort of at a loss.

Color wheel simply has preset ways of contrasting colors. Typically, they go
blue-yellow, red-green, black-white. Look at how GW used to paint things in
WFB5 and 40k2 to see how amateur color selection with a new-found color wheel
turns out. :)

To get a similar effect, simply choose one "cool" color (e.g. blue/green)
against a "warm" color (e.g. brown/red), with the occasional substitution for
"neutral" (e.g. black/white). That all there really is to it, aside from
purple/pink, which are problem colors and only work with black/white.

The dark purple is fine, perhaps a medium purple for highlights and tinting the
gems.

Yeah, for contrast.

Sure, that'd work.

Perhaps a medium color, a lighter, pinkish-purple?

As the body is dark, and the helmet/loincloth medium brighness, I'd go very
light, perhaps grey-white?

If purple, try yellow, pink, or light purple if tinting.

Glad to help! Keep painting, and watch for what others have done -- the more
you see, the more things you'll be able to incorporate it into your painting.
