Evening Yanks, got a weird question for ya:

When you go out and eat ribs / wings / any messy finger food, how do you
clean your hands ?

Do they supply some kind of towel, finger bowl or handy-wipe, or do you
have to go to the bathroom to wash ?

Thanks,

M

Its nice when they give out handi-wipes, but mostly its paper napkins and a
washup in the loo when you're done.

Depends on how fancy the restaurant. Most dinner or "family" places will
have handy-wipes. At fancier places the server will bring steaming hot
towels to your table after the meal. Finger bowls are less common.

Disclaimer: The USA is a big country and a melting pot of people who's
ancestors are from all over the world. If you ask 10 different Americans
from 10 different regions of the USA the same culture question don't be
surprised if you get 10 different answers :)

Cheap BBQ joints usually have prepackaged wipes for you to use. Some
just have a roll of paper towels at the table.

As mentioned the fancy-pants places will bring you a warm washcloths
afterwards but you are probably paying too much at that point.

Depends on the restaurant. Most places will provide paper napkins or paper
towels. The fancy pay through the nose places often provide washcloths or
the like.

In my experience, the cheaper places give you the packaged pre-moistened
towel, while other establishments give you the finger bowl aka "lemon soup".

Are you not familiar with the phrase "Finger licking good!" ???

Strangers make the best napkins! Trust me...

(At home, small children and pets do a suitable job of washing the ole
digits if strangers or distant relatives aren't available. You just
have to decide if the kids or the critters have earned the reward.)

Unless of course it's a North Korean BBQ. Then they come on a
plate with a choice of side dishes.

I guess times are tough in N. Korea when they have started serving
themselves at their own BBQ's. How do they decide who is the main
course? I always wondered the pecking order was decided in cannibalism

complain when i wash up the dogs' bowls with the human dishes, so go figure.

Your version of cheap and mine must be different. rolls of paper towels are the norm over in Hicksville Gwinnett County.
