With all the talk of the new Necrons coming soon, I thought I'd post a
link to my old Necron Army, newly photographed.

http://www.gtblakey.demon.co.uk/wh40k/necron/

I'm looking forward to having some Heavy choices now.

I love the old Necron Immortals. They are the only good-looking figures in
both the old and new line, in my opinion..

Nice paint job! However, they do look a bit close to GW's Necrons, but
with red gauss crystals and such (which looks pretty cool). :P

Of course - there aren't really that many ways to paint metal skeletons, are
there?

Bluish metal look, bronze, black metal, pure white with black guns...

OK, but they're all metals when you think about it. I'm not counting white,
because then they look like a cross between Battle Droids and
Stormtroopers - and we don't want that, do we?

Clonetroopers!

Actually, I was sort of thinking of Chaos Androids at the time. But I
*am* considering doing mine black, with some blue highlights or
edging. MY dad, however, thinks he'd do them in a sand or tan colour
scheme, to go with the desert theme. To each his own, I guess. Who
knows, might not look so bad, if it's done right.

Actually, I've looked around the net and found loads of paint jobs of
Necrons, but to be honest, thought the GW colour scheme was the better.
I did however decided to go with orange->white guns rather than the
green. Which I suppose means I'll have to paint a few of those gimmicky
green gun inserts that will come with the new warriors. I wonder how
I'll orange->white the huge crystal on the monolith though...?

I did my IG stormtroopers in an exact replica of the Choc Chip camo scheme.

Well, hey, if it looks good for you, how can anyone argue with that?

That's going to be a pain. Just paint it up like your other crystals,
it should work. Maybe add a few streaks of "lightning". Too bad you
can't make the green inserts orange without painting them. I doubt an
orange wash would look very good.

Make a plaster mould, then cast a replica crystal out of transparent resin;
colour it as you like.

I was actually thinking of that, too, but I'm not sure on whether it
would be worth the cost and effort.

Have you ever stopped one of them to ask whether they were homo- or
heterosexual? Who knows if they even *have* females? For all we
know, the whole lot of them could be asexual... :P

Agreed - considering that they're robots, automatons, artifical constructs,
I see no reason for them to have any interest in the matter at all!

Bah. They just build them if they need them. But that's why all the
true Necrontyr have self-repair mechanisms, so they survive long
enough to become flesh-and-bones again.

Yes - in my case, it's probably just because I like Dilbert cartoons, and it
sounds like the kind of thing that Dogbert would say in a punchline. I guess
my brain sort of inserts a joke before it. Hm.

It's a "I had a brilliant comment to come with here, starting with 'No...'
but then I forgot the rest of it." no.

It was something along the lines of "Efficient being s are never intelligent
