TYPE
Ordinarily, there is no restriction on the type of vehicle a Chaos Space Marine
army may field. However, as noted below certain vehicle types must be of a
minimum size.
SIZE
Most Chaos vehicles may be of any size. However, Light Vehicles and Walkers may
not be Small.
ARMOUR
Chaos vehicles follow the usual rules for determining armour values given in WD
252.
SPEED
Vehicles Devoted to Nurgle may not be Agile or Fast; see the Special Options
section for a full explanation of 'Devoted' vehicles. Likewise, no vehicle
which is Agile or Fast may be Devoted to Nurgle. Vehicles Devoted to another
Power, or those which are not Devoted at all, may be any speed.
WEAPONS
Chaos vehicles may take any of the following close combat weapons and weapon
upgrades:
Close Combat Weapon +1xWSxA
Power Weapon +3xWSxA
Dreadnought CCW +5xWSxA
Chaos Whip +5xWSxA
War Machine CCW +10xWSxA

CHARACTERISTICS
Chaos vehicles have the following crew options. Note that the statline for a
Chaos Titan is for the machine itself, as a Chaos Titan is an amalgam of crew
and machinery. Therefore they may only be taken as 'crew' for War Machine-sized
Walkers. Daemon crew for a vehicle automatically makes that machine a Daemon
Engine; it gains the benefits of the Possessed Vehicle upgrade from Codex:
Chaos Space Marines but has a basic cost of 50pts before any other costs are
accounted for.
Chaos vehicles gain an additional attack for every close combat weapon they are
armed with.

SPECIAL OPTIONS
Chaos may not ordinarily use vehicles with the Skimmer special rule. Chaos
may use normal or war machine-sized vehicles with this rule, but only in armies
led by a character with the Mark of Tzeentch. Chaos skimmers are Devoted to
Tzeentch.
Vehicles Devoted to Nurgle may not take the Souped-up Engine upgrade. A vehicle
with this upgrade similarly cannot be Devoted to Nurgle.
Daemon Engines may not be equipped with Targeters.
Other than these restrictions, Chaos vehicles may take any upgrade allowed by
WD 252.
Devoted: If a vehicle is Devoted to a Chaos Power, it may only take vehicle
upgrades, weapon upgrades and weapons of a matching Power or which are not
specific to any Power. If the vehicle is a transport, it may only transport
troops loyal to that Power or which have no allegiance to any Power. A
transport which is Devoted to Nurgle, for instance, may not transport Khorne
Berserkers, Noise Marines, Thousand Sons, Daemons other than Plaguebearers and
Beasts of Nurgle, or models with the Marks of Khorne, Tzeentch or Slaanesh or
of Chaos Undivided. You may declare any vehicle Devoted to a Power without
giving it any specific upgrades which require it to be.
CHAOS UPGRADES
The following rules apply to certain new weapons and upgrades found in the
list. I have also added a new vehicle upgrade which, if taken, makes that
vehicle Devoted to Tzeentch.
Weapon - Chaos Whip: Any Chaos vehicle capable of taking a close combat weapon
may take this. Every 6 the model rolls to hit in close combat allows it to make
an additional attack.
Weapon Upgrade - Axe of Khorne: This is an upgrade to a close combat weapon the
vehicle already possesses, and a vehicle with a weapon upgraded to be an Axe of
Khorne must be Devoted to Khorne.
The Axe of Khorne causes all wounding hits caused by this weapon in close
combat to cause D3 wounds instead of 1. Hits which damage vehicles roll an
extra D6 on the damage table and you choose the highest result.
Weapon Upgrade - Plague Blade: This is an upgrade to a close combat weapon the
vehicle already possesses, and a vehicle with a weapon upgraded to be a Plague
Blade must be Devoted to Nurgle.
Attacks made with the Plague Blade which roll a 6 to wound automatically kill
their target, even if it has multiple wounds and would not normally be
instantly killed by the attack. It may not make saving throws except
invulnerable saving throws. If a Plague Blade damages a vehicle, its internal
circuitry begins to corrode and malfunction - if it causes a glancing hit, roll
on the penetrating hit table. If it causes a penetrating hit, roll on the
Catastrophic Damage table even if the vehicle is not a war machine.
Vehicle upgrade: Rubric of Ahriman (30pts)
This represents the effects of the Rubric on the vehicles of the Thousand Sons
Legion, rather than casting it on them anew. Like the Marines who were killed
by the spell, the vehicles' internal workings were reduced to ash, but the
remaining shell has been powered by Chaotic magic ever since.
A vehicle with this upgrade is Devoted to Tzeentch. It may not be given the
Possessed Vehicle upgrade. It has the stats of a Chaos Space Marine for the
purposes of firing and fighting. The vehicle cannot be damaged by weapons with
a strength lower than half the armour value on the facing being attacked,
rounded down - so, for instance, a vehicle with AV10 or 11 at the rear being
fired at from the rear could not be harmed by a weapon with less than S5.
Similarly, a facing which has AV14 could not be harmed by weaponsfire with a
strength lower than 7. This applies even if the weapon normally rolls extra
dice for armour penetration, and also applies in close combat. Although it has
no living crew, the vehicle is affected by Crew Shaken and Stunned results as
these temporarily disrupt the magical forces powering it.
