Subject: [40K] Mini Battle Report
Howdy,

I played a non-campaign game last weekend with a couple of friends -
2000 pts of Nids vs 1000/1000 split between Inquisition and Marines.

It was an annihilation mission and my gaming partner Augur set up the
board with a good amount of terrain one end of the board had several
large buildings while the other had a good number of hills and wooded
area terrain.  (We were playing short end to short end rather than
across the broader long side to long side as we normally do.)

I think I won in the end (we didn't bother to add up points or anything)
but there were definitely some entertaining moments.

My marine playing foe took all 3 of the new AoBR magnet dreads I just
finished as part of his Army.  And in typical 'Blackheart'ian fashion...

"Stormed at with shot and shell - they exploded quite well."*

*For those of you that missed it, I was playing against Blackheart one
year at Gen-Con and I was bummed when my newly painted Nid unit was
crushed on the table top.  Blackheart and pretty much everyone else at
the table looked at me and collectively said "Well Duh!  Everyone knows
that newly painted units ALWAYS get their asses kicked during their
first game."  Who knew?   Since then my minis have done a fine job of
holding to that tradition (unfortunately).   Ungreatful bastards...

Other in game highlights included:

Imperials won the roll and setup and took 1st turn.  The xenophobic
bastards shot up my lovely Gunslinger Carnifex hiding in a building, and
then their sneaky Eversor Assassin assaulted and butchered it before it
ever got off a single shot.  (sigh...)   Of course my desperate
Zoanthrope standing only 10 feet away proceeded to fry the assassin
after surprisingly both passing its psychic check AND managing to hit
the Eversor - go S10 attack!  Of course the same Zoan goes on to hit the
nearby Dreads and my opponent's Crusader (freakin' twice!) with S10 warp
blasts and failed to so much as glance them.   WTF!!!!

Another classic WTF moment in game - my tooled up Uber-HTH Fex charges
head long into assault with a slow moving Repressor.  Nearby warriors
and troops units managage to surround the fully loaded vehicle.  The Fex
has 11 attacks, manages ONLY 1 FREAKING HIT!!! while needing only a 4+
to hit, and then rolls 'crew shaken' for the hit result.
W!!! T!!! F!!!
My Inquisition playing opponent was certain that his vehicle &
stormtroopers were all toast - as was I.  He burst out laughing when he
saw the look on my face at the end of my dice rolling.  :P  (Talk about
'surprise butt-sex' dice rolling - that was it right there.)

On the plus side, my Tyrant brought down one Dread, and the Uber-Fex
squashed a Deamon-host, followed by the 2 remaining Dreads in HTH.
After that we wrapped it up as it was highly likely that my Tyrant, Fex
and 2 x6 stealers squads would have quickly mopped up the remaining
imperials.

Anyone else actually getting in some game time?   The tough call will be
painting or gaming tomorrow?

                Myr :)
