I got to try these this past weekend at a local GW store, and they are
pretty awesome.
They had some of the new Bloodletters primed white that they were letting
people paint up, and I did one up with blood red as the base, then washed
with the Baal red. The wash dries pretty quickly, so after it was dry all I
really had to do was paint the fiddly bits (horns, sword, etc.) and it was
done. Start to finish was ~ 4 min. Just the wash over the base color gave it
a great table-top look. And the Devlan mud over boltgun metal was the best
looking "dirty metal" I have seen.

So, Im pre-ordering a few boxes, as I will be using these quite frequently.
But I'm not buying the "air brush".

How well do they set? Have you got a test model that you could wash
over with some water just after you think the wash has set?

just by looking at them... either Ogryn Flesh or Gryphonne Sepia...
probably the Sepia..

No, the Sepia is more of a brownish-yellow and the Flesh is more of a muted
brown.
So, do like I am doing, and stock up on the chestnut ink.

Are you asking if it's possible to rinse off the wash? And they set very
evenly and get in all the places you want it to get to.

I had hoped to do that but no one round here seems to be selling it
still, loval GW - empty slots sold out, same in the other local shops
(not just for chestnut).

Yes, he's asking if you can rinse off the wash *after* it seems to
have dried completely. If it doesn't come up when it's exposed to water
again or another wash for example, it'll be a lot better than some of
the inks that lift off the surface again when they're re-exposed to
moisture.

GW's chestnut ink is more like a 'burnt Sienna' (sort of a warmer
redish brown) if you need to make your own washes with acrylic instead
of ink (i.e. if you can't find any more GW chestnut ink).

Hope that helps,

Nope, Didn't get to keep the mini I painted (noob manager dint know wtf he

Buy the Vallejo. I'm liking them. The smoke is very handy.

Good to know! I've always been a big fan of washes and inks (I like
to use a lot of different techniques). Sad to see the line diminished
to just eight colors, though.

The "air brush" just looks stupid, especially having to hold it like a
gun. I'm sure that would give you worse control than a real air
brush.

They do inks? Damn I missed that...would be handy since most of my
painting is Vallejo based.

Yeah, it's a bit telling when even the redshirts have a hard time justifying
why you should buy it. The fella I was talking to was spouting the party
line, all while giving me the "I'm only saying this cause my manager is
standing right there" look.

They spend all their time justifying crap to customers, but hand them
a really nasty turd and even the most adamant redshirt is going to
have trouble handling it, much less selling it. That "air gun" is
probably the biggest, stinkiest turd this side of N*g*sh. The novelty
of its design wears off the first time you try to use it. I'm glad
we've got two real air brushes.

The drowned Daemonette example shown isn't too bad.

Shocker: They're said to be *cheaper* than W&N, too.
