Unless you wanted to keep this army as Undivided, I'd consider giving this
guy the Mark of Khorne. It's only 5 points, and a S5 I5 power weapon is
nasty. I wouldn't be too worried about needing the MoCU since Ld 10 should
ensure they pass their morale tests most of the time anyway.
>9 Chaos Space Marines @ 203 Pts
> Bolt Pistol / CCW (x8); Plasma Pistol & CCW (x1)
Drop one man from this squad (a BP/CCW marine), use the extra points to give
one of the other squads an extra member (probably the Havocs). Also, a 9
Marine squad (8 + Mighty Champ) is as good as a 10 Marine squad for morale
checks (both need to lose 3 guys before they test morale).

I'd drop the Dozer Blade, but that's a personal preference.

Autocannon is good, personally I'd take a Missile Launcher in this squad as
it has greater scope (frag and krak), but again, personal preference. Also
you probably have enough MLs in the Havoc squad.
>5 Havocs @ 135 Pts
> Bolter (x2); Missile Launcher (x3)
This unit looks fine, but I'd boost it by one by dropping one of the faux
retinue CSMs.

RGMW FAQ - I LEIK MILK!

Well, if you drop the 'dozer blade (not worth it for such a small game
unless you've already modelled the rhino) and change the autocannon for a
heavy bolter (almost as good against infantry, better rate of fire. Not much
good against vehicles but that's what the missile launchers are for) you can
afford one extra Marine in your shooty troop.
From now on the only thing you can do is play, find out what works and what
doesn't. As far as tactics go, you should try to shield your Havocs behind
the shooty marines to get the most use out of your missile launchers. Use
your Rhino aggressively - as soon as it's dropped the troops, try to get
behind the enemy for crossfire. It costs more than 10% of your whole army,
so you need to squeeze more use out of it than just transport.

While I agree that a S5 I5 power weapon wielding looney is a good thing, as a
Chaos player who has failed multiple morale checks with Ld 10, having that
re-roll is a huge advantage. Except, of course when you fail the re-roll (as
I've had happen on more than one occasion).

Good list. Play a few games and tell us how it does.

-Let's take a look at what you have...

-Good, very good.
>
>9 Chaos Space Marines @ 203 Pts
> Bolt Pistol / CCW (x8); Plasma Pistol & CCW (x1)
-I'd personally drop a 1-2 of these guys to bulk up your main squads a
bit. With the rhino and small size of the game, your guys won't have to
worry about having their numbers whittled down too much, but your other
squads are likely to be out on the open and getting shot at by god knows
what, so...
>
> 1 Chaos Rhino APC @ [63] Pts
> Smoke Launchers [3]
> Extra Armour [5]
> 'Dozer Blade [5]
-I'd drop the dozer blade unless you're expecting a lot of terrain or
are playing totally WYSIWYG.
>
>5 Chaos Space Marines @ 91 Pts
> Bolter (x3); Autocannon (x1); Plasma Rifle (x1)
-I'd replace the autocannon with a missle launcher. It helps against
lightly armored troops just as well and packs more of a punch against
vehicles.
>
>5 Havocs @ 135 Pts
> Bolter (x2); Missile Launcher (x3)
-Good, but this is the squad that needs more bulking up. 5 guys means
only 2 casualties before they can't soak any more and also before they
take morale tests...
Good luck.

It all depends on where he wants to go with the army in the future. One of the
best parts of the MoCU is that you can take Veteran squads as Troops. It is so
nice to have a heavy weapon squad or two that can infiltrate. You can pretty
much take out one vehicle on the first turn, more if you set up right.

Sounds good to me. I prefer large squads of everything, but that isn't always
possible.

It is a good safe guard. Without it, it is a 58 pt vehicle that is worthless
1/6th of the time it goes through difficult terrain. An extra five points is
worth making that a 1 in 36 chance instead. I use them, though don't come into
play every game.

I've always preferred the Heavy Bolter & Plasma Gun squad. It has more
firepower, though the Autocannon is probably better (higher strength, better
range, less shots).

In such small battles, have two grunts might suffice. I would definitely add
about two more grunts to this squad in the future.
That's quite true. Having bought 2 boxes of Berserkers when they were on
special, I'm a bit biased to Khorne... ;o)

Large squads seem less cheesy too. I hate these Marine armies with 6 5 man
Tac squads.

That's quite true. Again, personal bias, as I don't tend to have a lot of
difficult terrain to play on.

Mmm, HB/plasgun squadsare yummy. I hadn't thought about the HB when I wrote
this actually, but with bolters and a plasgun, the HB is the obvious choice.
Good anti-infantry squad.

Khorne is pretty good, probably my third choice if I were to base my army on a
god. Slaanesh is my favorite (troop choices that are good heavy weapon teams and
gifts that make for good hth squads).

I don't mind those. My shooty army can usually force them to make Ld tests every
turn.

Where as I play on huge amounts of terrain. And running a rhino full of
possessed though a forest is really cool.
