[WIP] baneblade photos as threatened

i didn't bother with anything ambitious since the basic kit is already a
pretty "busy" model and i didn't want to make it too cluttered and
impractical-looking. the most actual converting work i did was altering the
turret bins to form a mount for the AA gun. and (unlike most of my
conversions) i managed to ensure that all the moving parts can still move on
this one :P

You haven't drilled out the gun barrels?
Are the weapons magnetically swappable?
Trick for plastics, get a bottle of polystyrene cement, not the GW stuff but
in a glas bottle with a brush in the lid if you can. When it is half used,
fill bottle with chopped up sprue and let it melt until you have a thick
gunk, excellent plastic filler.

1. Nice job covering all the seams, that's going to make it even easier
to produce a stunning looking model with even a modest paint job.
2. Dare I ask how many sprues of 'spikey bitz' you went through on that
thing?
3. How did you go about setting up the side plates to allow for the
double turrets fore and aft?
4. Are those supposed to be 'long barrelled Heavy Bolters'
(conversions) or are those chaos 'auto-cannons'? (In either case they
have a great chaos look to them.)
5. How/what did you make the wicked looking big-ass AA gun out of on
the back of the main turret? (Looks like IG Autocannons under a twin-
linked Hvy Bolter armor plate, but I don't recognize the big ammo box
units underneath.)
I love the various Chaos touches including the nice hand done main gun
conversion on the bore opening to the icons and universal weapons
conversions throughout the whole of the model. That thing defines
'733t' and the term 'Legendary Unit'. Fantastic job! What are you
going to name that bad boy, and is it going to be Slannesh themed, or
Chaos undivided? And one more thing, when are you going to mail it to
me? ;)

funny you should say that ... i did make another of those katyusha-style
frames from spare HK missiles, but in the end i couldn't find anyplace to
put it after i'd decided on all the extra guns :P

no, i haven't got a drill bit the right size atm (broke the last one, of
course). i've left them unglued so i can take them off and do it when i get
around to replacing that.

nah, i did consider it but decided i couldn't really be bothered. that's
the kind of can-do attitude that's made this country great.

that's not a bad idea ... does it actually stay fluid in the bottle for any
length of time though?

yeah, i'm kinda autistic about that. i do all of them, even on the
underside where nobody will ever see them ...

not sure ... i have (or i had) a stack of leftover "fence railings" i'd been
saving for this model. IIRC there are 142 little spikes and a few big ones
:P

that's actually really simple, all you gotta do is dremel off the little tab
thing on the underneath of the top sponson armor so it will fit on
backwards. of course you could not even bother doing that and have 2 sets
of forward-facing sponsons, but i thought the WWI effect of guns pointing
everywhere went better with the riveted armor.

it's really just an aesthetic thing, i'm always making longer-barrelled
heavy bolters for some reason. and yeah, mainly to make them look more
chaosy.

yeah, they're infantry autocannons slightly hacked up to go on a defiler
reaper mount. the ammo boxes are scratch-built from old bits of armor plate
(predator sprues, if i remember correctly). i did want a powered ammo feed
from the turret interior originally, but pretty early on it became obvious
that it wasn't gonna fit.

thanks! having said that, it was a pretty straightforward job; the hardest
part was scraping together all the bits (a combination of ebay the the
warstore, as usual). I would estimate that either of my land raider
conversions probably took much longer to assemble. then again, i
deliberately didn't add much battle damage to this one, as it would've wound
up looking far too cluttered.

i'll probably paint it black and purple to fit with the rest of my slaanesh
junk*, but unless i get very bored it'll probably just get used as a regular
baneblade w/extra guns. i'm thinking 50 points should cover the AA gun, a
little more for the upgrades, so it'll probably come to about 675ish.
that's enough to be going on with, anyways ...

oh hell yes. that was literally the first thing i did as soon as i got them
off the sprues. i can't understand why people just leave them on and hope
nobody will notice or whatever. it's actually easier to remove the aquilae
from the baneblade tracks than from the land raider tracks, as the detail
isn't as deep and there's more room to move a dremel around. so there's
really no excuse :(

Yes for ages, and if it thickens you add more thin glue and if it thins you
add more sprue...
My bottle is 10 years old, but the glue and plastic inside probably isn't.
