WHAT'S NEW

Another Web Award.
The Heritage Crest Miniatures' web site wins another award! This time it is
that ever elusive Gold Wyrm Award from the Effie Rover RPG site. An article
should appear in the news section of the site soon with a statement regarding
the award.
Origins 2001!
We decided to "visit" Origins this year in Columbus Ohio, a predominately
Fantasy and Sci-Fi consumer convention. We did however confirm that a few of
the lines that we have been looking into, received considerable interest at the
show from a variety of gamers. This is a good indication of a game or systems
popularity, so in the coming months you will see a few new manufacturers and
product lines coming on-board with us here at "The Crest"! If you're
interested, look for the insert with the Origins 27th Annual Best Games
nominees and winners!
HCM Hobby News skips an issue.
We decided to skip issue 6 to begin publishing the newsletter at the beginning
of the month so that we can get information to you on what's coming up rather
than what's already happened.

Available-To-Order Notifications
We have just recently added a new "feature by request" from a customer who
wanted to be notified when a new release item had arrived. Obviously the
anticipation must have been unbearable so we decided to "make it so". We did
however take the liberty of broadening the scope of the new feature. It becomes
available automatically on the detail and image page of any item that is not
in-stock. Remember that a New Release item is not in-stock until we have
received it. Therefore, this feature helps the customer who wants to know the
moment that new item arrives in our warehouse, as well as the customer who is
anxiously awaiting the restock of those really cool miniatures that sold out
right before he got on the Internet. We tried to make this feature a really
simple one (for the visitors that is!), If you have an E-Account, do nothing
but click the "GO" button to subscribe. (see sample above) If you aren't then
you'll have to type your email address in the indicated box, then you can click
the "GO" button. Ok, I got my notice and purchased my minis, why do I still get
notified? You need to unsubscribe from the item using the "Manage your
Available to Order notifications" link under
the "Subscription Services" section on "Your Account" page.

Universal Gaming at it's best!
With all of the confusion amongst gaming systems these days, it's nice to know
that a product is building momentum to help standardize some of the rules.
Wizards of the Coast licensing of the D20 system to other gaming companies
under an open license agreement is perpetuating a truly universal gaming system
that will allow players to learn the core rules, and switch games without
having to learn a new rule set, even from a Fantasy to a Science Fiction game!
If you are into Role Playing games then this is the area that you want to watch
during the remainder of the year, as we will be stocking this system with only

Painting the Minifigs Opel Blitz Truck
The 3-ton Opel-Blitz was the standard cargo truck used by the German army in
World War Two. The Blitz served on all fronts, and was fitted with many
different body types. Sheet metal shortages dictated that Mercedes-Benz
produced its version of the Opel-Blitz with a standardized wooden cab,
officially called Einheits-Fahrerhaus.
Trucks deployed on the Eastern Front were usually painted in some variant of a
White Base and a Panzer Gray, while early war trucks were painted primarily in
the Panzer Gray color. This subject was based on the Gray/Green/Brown
camouflage pattern that was used throughout the war in the European Theatre.
Let me preface this article with the fact that I have not picked up an airbrush
in nearly 10 years. I know the principles, but am poorly out of practice.
Therefore this article is geared towards the beginner. The experienced modeler
probably needs to just look at tables 1 and 2 for the materials and colors
used.
