Historical Retreat 1996 is just around the corner, and if you haven't
made
your plans to be there it is high tikme you did! Pre - Registration
ends
10/15/96, so do it today!
As you already know, this year's Historical Retreat will be held
at the
Arlington Ramada Inn (817.265.7711)
700 E. Lamar Blvd, Arlington, Texas 76011 on November 15, 16
and 17th. This year's convention is looking great!
Events already scheduled will include our guest of honor, Scott
Bowden
featuring the Battle of Durenstein (Napoleonics 1815) and the battle
of
Sharpsburg featuring custom made terrain that looks great! (or
Antietam if
you wish). These events will be held on huge battlefields of 16ft by
8ft
and 16ft
by 6ft respectively.
A WRG and DBM tournament sanctined by the NASAMW and presented by
Bill McCampbell andr Dusty Koellhoffer will include 24 contestants,
and are
sanctioned by the North American Society of Ancients. A Desperado
scenario,
presented by Steve Miller (This guy's figures are museum quality paint
jobs!). The Alamo and Napoleonics will be presented by Jeff Lawrence
and
crew.
The Battle of New Orleans is hosted by David Haynes. Seven Years War
and
WWII Skirmish
by Michael DeVerall. Scott Hendickson presents 2nd Chaeronea in
Ancient Empires (Sulla vs the Ponts). Rob
Smith will run
a French & Indian Wars skirmish scenario; Jeff McCullough brings you
Napoleonics, and
Tom Primrose will feature Seven Years Wars. Richard Kropp presents
Gettysburg
- DAY 2, and
"Pickett's Charge"! (High Tide is here all you rebels!)
Clay Smith will fly to the convention in his WWI favorite for all
ages,
AERODROME! He will also sport Fort Zinderneuf (French Foreign Legion)
for
all you desert rats! Gerald Dickens presents Koenig Krieg with Turks
vs
Austrians) who will run away first?! Steve Carroll brings "the Big
Push"
20mm WWI platoon level using "Over There" rules, as well as G'Day
Mule! -
20mm WWII skirmish using Take the Point rules.
Mike Gomez brings us the fantastic "CIRCUS MAXIMUS"! If you have ever
watched Ben Hur, then you know why I am so excited about this event!
Take charge of your chariot in a hilariously ruthless representation
of the classic Roman event, played on a 14ft by 5 ft model of the
racetrack.
And did I forget? The Outriders are Coming! Yes, take cover, The
Outriders
are coming. John Russell brings you fast and furious War Hammer 40K
and Warhammer Fantasy!
Battletech will also be on hand. Games sponsored by Games Workshop!
No convention is complete without the Saturday Night Auction!
Jeff
Wright will bring us his professional auctioneer skills for free, with
25% of
the proceeds of
auctioned material going to HMGS Tornado Alley, and 75% going to the
seller.

it to the convention with you!

Brookshires Hobby from California is sponsoring our latest event:
The Single Figure 25mm painting contest! This event has a maximum of
12 participants, all of which MUST be pre-registered for the
convention. Entrants into the contest must pre-register no later than
10/31/96! Each participant must supply ALL of his own paints and
materials with the exception of the figure. Figures will be 25mm
Wargames Foundry figures (French Napoleonic), ready to paint, white
primed. At the word go, each participant will have two hours to paint
his or her figure. At the end of the time period, all figures will be
taken up and judged. Winner will be determined Saturday evening and a
Prize awarded for the winner. Each participant may keep their own
painted figure (after the judging). The winning figure will be
photographed and will appear on the Internet in the Thursday Night
Irregular's Home Page. This is an excellent opportunity for those of
you with the skill and know how, to demonstrate for onlookers, new and
old alike, how it's done. So come on down and show us how it's done!
The Miniatures Painting Group out of Fort Worth will be present with
several armies of painted
figures, waiting for you to devour them! Yes, and Essex miniatures has
also
expressed interest in supporting this event so don't miss it!
A painting contest! Paint your favorite 8 to 16 figure 15mm or
25mm unit
and enter it! Prize awarded for the best in each bracket. Judges
features
some of the best
