Hey all,

I could use some advice here. I've got a regular Mahjong group that
has been taught & plays HKOS & Singaporean styles, however I've
recently taught them how to play Zung Jung.

My issue is this - we play for pennies, etc., which is easy to do with
HKOS & Singaporean, by simply counting 1 fan = 1 penny. However with
Zung Jung, they use points (all they way up to 480 I think) and even
though I doubt a single hand will often get that high, having that
kind ($1.60) of payout per person is too much for this group.

Anyone familiar with ZJ enough to help me come up with a solution to
translate ZJ points to smaller usable "pennies" that keeps the same
weighting factors?

You could play like a tournament: Everyone antes (say $1). High score
gets 50% of the pot; 2nd place gets 30%; 3rd gets 20%, or adjust to
your preference. 75/25/0/0, 75/20/5/0, 60/20/12/8, or whatever you
like and agree to before play.

Or you can play with a pie similar to American tradition: A penny a
point until you run out of your stake, then you play for free.

Lots of ways to do it.
