Subject: [ANNOUNCE] Filfre version 0.94
Hi, folks...

Just a quick note that I've finally gotten around to putting together an
updated version of Filfre, my Zcode interpreter.  If you haven't seen
Filfre before, it's a terp for Windows with a few fairly unique features
that I'd always wanted in a Zcode terp and never seemed to get.  The
scrollback is integrated into the display, for one, and it is possible
to copy words from a story's text into its command line just by
double-clicking them, for another.  Also present are handy menus of
common verbs and prepositions, and a compass rose for quick navigation.

This version now supports Blorbed files, and does display "cover art"
and bibliographic information if included with the story.  (Well,
actually, this does not work for the three early Inform 7 preview games,
which don't seem to completely obey the published Metadata standards.  I
assume said standards were still in flux at the time of their creation.
Graham and Emily... any chance of getting these recompiled and
rereleased?)

There are of course lots of good Zcode terp alternatives out there, but
perhaps Filfre is one you'd like to take a look at.  For now, you can
grab it from my home page... http://home.grandecom.net/~maher/filfre.
If you check it out, comments (and the inevitable bug reports) are of
course welcomed.

I'll get it to the archive soon, along with about a dozen other things
I've been meaning to send there.  I'll also gather up the Borland C++
Builder source and ship that over, just in case anyone is interested.

Other changes:

Retired the Inventory and Objects in Area menus as interesting ideas
that just weren’t worth the trouble.  Double-clicking on words in the
story’s text is almost as convenient anyway.

Added a Select All option to facilitate easy copying and pasting of the
entire scrollback buffer into a text editor.

Yet more work on Unicode support.  At this point, and with the
exceptions of the verb and preposition menus, I believe I am basically
there on Windows 2000/XP systems, although I live in dread of someone
telling me otherwise.  Older Windows systems are not so complete in
their Unicode support, but Filfre tries to step down gracefully.

A whole host of minor and major bugs, from random crashes to corrupted
displays, were swatted.  Thanks to everyone who offered feedback on this
stuff.
