The voting is finished for Spring Thing 2011, and the results are in:

1. The Lost Islands of Alabaz, by Michael Gentry
2. Bonehead, by Sean M. Shore
3. Wetlands, by Clara Raubertas
4. Mentula Macanus: Apocolocyntosis, by One of the Bruces and Drunken
Bastard
5. The Promise, by Sean Huxter
6. Hallow Eve, by Michael Wayne Phipps Jr.

For a more detailed statistical breakdown of the results, see the
Spring Thing 2011 home page:

Several voters remarked that the games were consistently of high
quality this year. And the voting scores were as close as ever. I hope
all the authors feel good about participating in the competition.

We also had a record turnout of voters. I hope that those who played
the games feel free to post their thoughts about them here or else
send them directly to the authors. Authors are always looking for
feedback on the games they've written.

And of course this has also been a record year as far as Spring Thing
prizes. For details on the prize breakdown, see:
http://www.springthing.net/2011/prizes.htm

Authors, I'll be getting back to you later today about prizes.

So all in all, it's been a very successful year. I'll certainly plan
on doing it again next year!

Good competition; congratulations to the winners, who competed in a
tough field.

Alas a somewhat disappointing place for my favourite game (though I
should add that I haven't finished all of them yet), but on the bright
side: it has achieved the highest standard deviation of any IF game
ever! At least the highest standard deviation I could find in the
archives of the Spring Thing and the IF Competition.

For the curious, the number two and three in terms of highest standard
deviation are "Blue Lacuna" and "The Gostak", both regarded as -- rather
different -- classics of the medium. :)

Kind regards,
Victor

Why, thank you!

At least I siezed the Golden Banana, sorta.

I was a little surprised that Alabaz took first and also that The
Promise was all the way down at fifth. I actually didn't finish
Alabaz due to one (or possibly two) game-ending bugs, so maybe the
later portions of the game were really awesome.

Still, congratulations all around and thanks to Greg for organizing.
I look forward to possible post-comp releases of some of these.
