So, my cousin and I are considering starting a sort of IF-Game-playing
group, where we use Go To Meeting software and mikes to remotely play
IF Games together, shout instructions at eachother, obsessively take
notes, etc.

I'm looking for some kickass IF Games to play at these meetings. I
would have loved to do "The Gostak" for one of these, as it is bloody
brilliant Jabberwocky-style vocab replacement, but unfortunately, I've
nearly finished it myself.

I'd love to get some ideas for innovative IF games to play! Preferably
short, not excessively difficult, extraordinarily clever and
innovative, and un-lose-able.

Also, I'm soliciting anyone who would like to join us to play!

If I can derail this for a software question -- Go To Meeting is a
general screen-sharing/conferencing tool, right? So you put up a
standard IF terp on one person's screen, and then everyone can see it?

I ask because I'm interested in ways people are doing online IF. (Yes,
Google Wave has gotten me thinking...)

As for game recommendations, http://ifdb.tads.org/ is a great search tool.

Plotkin! I just had the tremendous pleasure of playing your "Spider
and Web"! Brilliant work! Interactive Fiction may have a small
audience, but you are one of the shiningest stars!

Want to play with us? :D

Go To Meeting, it's basically a poor man's multi-user FTP. It's free
for a month. You can basically share an entire computer by way of a
simple keyboard/mouse type communication between up to 12 computers or
so. Then everyone (on their own computer, anywhere in the world) can
see the computer screen and take over control if they want, with the
main user having ultimate override. The software is miniscule and
tiny, non-invasive, and it runs effortlessly. The framerate is not
spectacular, we played some traditional adventure games like the
newest Monkey Island games with mixed results, but it's perfect for
screwing around on the web communally or playing text adventures.

Try it, try it! Join usss, join usss!

Blue Lacuna is awesome, though perhaps a bit longer than you want, as
you said "preferably short".
The remaining are all excellent and fairly short:
Galatea.
Photopia.
The Moonlit Tower.

It might be worth looking into Adobe's ConnectNow, a similar kind of
thing but totally free.
