I've put up a website for my ongoing project Memories, the first piece
of which is now finished. It should be noted that although The First
Memory is a self-contained story with (what is intended to be) a
satisfying ending, it's also the first part of a much larger story.
Any unresolved questions in the plot will probably be answered later.

A link to the game along with a quick description can be found on
castlesact.blogspot.com, where you will also be able to find
development updates if you're interested in following the game. The
description is reprinted below for your convenience.

"You aren't supposed to be on this island. Your parents always told
you stories about a monster that lived on this island that liked to
eat people, especially small children. But your friend Jullianne has
discovered some old abandoned house out here (it's anyone's guess as
to why she was poking around the island in the first place) and asked
you to meet her there, and Richard's already headed off into the woods
to find her. You're certainly not going to let yourself be let
behind. Richard would never let you hear the end of it, for one
thing."

The game features a few very simple (but potentially frustrating)
puzzles in which you must locate certain items or talk to certain
people, as well as a grand total of three different battles with a
system that varies only slightly from Lanista 2, with the addition of
the riposte ability, which is introduced in the second battle and
becomes critical to survival in the third. What I'd like to know is
how difficult the puzzles are, what things you tried to examine that
you couldn't, what actions you attempted that failed, and what
you tried to talk to people about but couldn't.

The link doesn't work, because the file is located at megaupload.
Megaupload and sites like it put barriers to access to a file (usually a
captcha and/or time delay). Because of this barrier, Parchment isn't going
to be able to load the file. If you get a Dropbox account (dropbox.com),
then put the z5 in your Public folder, it will be fully accessible to
Parchment and direct download. (Note: I don't think you have to install
the Dropbox software if you don't want to, though I recommend it, at least
on the Mac--it's great backup sofware.)

Bugger! The file worked fine for me when I tested it out immediately
after upload. Oh, well, thanks for the hint, will fix that
immediately.

Link has been fixed, should work properly for everyone now.

Those poor, poor Terry Pratchett books... I am enjoying it so far,
though sometimes available directions are unclear (especially if I've
been fooling around in a room for a bit). I have run into some odd
glitches; when using ">unlock pale door" in the West Hallway I get:
"What do you want to unlock the pale white door <illegal object number
3152>". I had similar glitches when talking to Jullianne.

Also, you can give anything in your inventory (including your pants!)
to Jullianne, but you can't get anything back.

First of all, thanks for trying it! I'm glad you like it. The
problem with giving things has been fixed in the source code so you
can only give the seashell to her, so that'll be fixed in the final
release (though I'll definitely be adding in a special failure message
if you try to give her your pants), but oddly enough the glitch with
the pale door (or any other door, it seems) occurs only in the online
version and not in the version taken directly from the source text.
What topics caused Jullianne's conversations to glitch? And does
anyone know what causes these glitches/a way to get rid of them?
