I have not seen this series before ( thanks for pointing it out ;) but
James Kerwin is mentioned in a book I read "Go: more than a game" as
the first American Go Pro... so when I was passing through Minn. MN I
stopped to get a personal lesson from him... it was over my head (at
the time I was about 12 or 11k on KGS) but he was a good teacher, so
I would think these would be worth reading.

I haven't seen these before. I was under the impression that the AGA's
E-Journal was not available except to paying members of the
Association.

James Kerwin is a knowledgeable Go teacher, so his advice is probably
good.
One caveat I would give, by looking at the first few articles you link
to: James was clearly writing for an audience that was receiving his
articles one per month, and he expected them to be studying frequently
during the month before the next article.
Note that James makes the important point in the very first article
that the only sure way to improve one's play is to play often. The
corollary to this is that one cann't expect to improve one's game by
reading James's articles and playing a few games; they were written
with the assumption that one was *studying* go, playing often to
explore the points in each lesson.
So, even if you read the articles rapidly, apply their advice in
measured increments, practicing each one's suggestions over many, many
games, against varied opponents, before moving onto the next lesson.
All the best in your studies, no matter which teacher you choose :-)

Thanks for posting this.
He also did a series on how to prepare for a Go Congress, that would also
be a good regular regimen.
