In using the Heromaker program I have discovered an annoying problem. How does one put a power into a slot in an elemental control with a linked power in the same slot? The Champions Rulebook details that this is how a power with a linked power is to be placed into an elemental control; together. But the Heromaker program does not allow the user to place two powers in one slot, whether they are linked or not. Can someone please help me with this?
Put the two powers in a package (under Power Frameworks) then move the package in to EC. Here it is, step-by-step.
1. Create your two powers (the ones that are linked)
2. Create a package (under Power Frameworks), don't bother with any of the settings, unless you want to give it a name/special effect. Just click Accept.
3. Right-click on the two linked powers, then click on Move, then right click on the Package. They should be added and the package should cost as much as the two powers.
4. Right-click on the package, then click on Move, then right-click on your EC.
5. Voila. You should be done.
I tested this out before writing this, so it should work. I have HEROMaker 2.5, so it might not if you don't but you can update to 2.5 for free (I don't remember where to find the updates)

What you first need to do is put the two powers in a Package, then put the Package in the slot. This can beslightly tricky (I rememer there's a quirk to doing it, but not what the quirk is...I think you may need to place the package in the slot _first_ then put the powers in the package.).

Okay, I did what you said. It worked great. The problem I am having now is that I don't think I completely understand how to put linked powers in an EC slot by using the game mechanics without the Heromaker. See if you follow:
25 pt EC that has the Limitation "Not In Water" worth -1/4. This gives the EC a real cost of 20 pts and gives every slot in the EC a -1/4 cost break.
Now put a slot in for a 3d6 Entangle (30 pts), with the Advantage "Backlash" worth +1/2. This gives a total of 45 pts.
Add to that same slot a 2d6 RKA (30 pts), with the Limitations "Linked To Backlash Of Entangle" and "No Knockback" which are worth -1/2 and -1/4 respectively for a total Limitation of -3/4.
So what would be the cost of the slot? Anyone???
My Heromaker computes it as being a cost of 34 pts for the linked slot. I figured it out on paper as being a 30 pt slot.
Could one of you brainiacs out there help? I really want to build this power for my wife's character, but at the same time I want to adhere to the rules of point costs.

I think the problem is that the EC bonus is usually subtracted from the active cost. Your two powers together give you 75 active points. Subtract the EC to give you 50 points Remaining Cost. Then you apply limitations. The Entangle is 3/5 of your active point total, so -1/4 on 3/5 of 50 points gives you a Real Cost of 24 The RKA is 2/5, so a total of -1 on 2/5 of 50 gives you a real cost of 10.
I would figure then a total cost of EC of 20, power of 34, for a total cost of 54.
I've never actually tried it before. This is just something I came up w/ off the top of my head.

I honestly can't tell you. I built a character like this for someone in my last campaign, and what I thought the points should come out like, and what Heromaker told me they came out as did not mesh. So I'm not sure whether the problem is with HM or my understanding.

OK, I've done stuff like this many times.
You have a total of 75 active points, 50 which are effectivly at half cost due to the EC. Might as well tack the most expensive part of the power at half cost, to save the maximum points. This results all 45 active points of the entangle and 5 active points of the RKA are in the elemental control (1/2 price) and the remaining 25 points of the RKA are outside of the elemental contral (full price) adding to that one slot. These points also get the EC limitation. This breaks down as follows:
