Lack of a playable system.
Being developed by someone who has never played a role playing game?
Being developed by someone who considers spelling, sentence structure,
punctuation, and paragraphs to "interrupt the free flow of ideas"?

Oh GREAT! We are being spammed by the James Joyce of Roleplaying Games,
twenty years from now I am sure there will be people that say things
like "Yes well Hybrid requires more effort, but gives you more in
return, if you put in 1 in another game you might get 10 back, but if
you put in 10 in Hybrid you get 1 000 back!" And then call us simplistic
and foolish for daring to say that it is the demented rantings of a
clinically insane hack.

The sad thing is that the general principle is actually true,
some systems with steep learning curves can accomplish much
more than is possible for a simple system. But the Hybrid
guy is slowly destroying the support for that meme (note:
just because a meme is true doesn't guarantee it will win).

Has anyone taken a look at the so-called math formulas he spouts? Is there
anything to them, or is it just so much wasted bandwidth?
Chris
They are, mostly, definitions of game stat values. They are formulas that
take one number (almost always the same number) and converts it into
another. The equations cannot be right, wrong, or anything else, as they
are just arbitrary formulas. The big point is that none of those numbers
are ever used for anything in the game. Hell, you don't even need to write
them down on a character sheet, as they can all be devised from a single
number.
What would you think could be "to them"?
You can take a look for yourself on Philippe Tromeau's Hybrid web page. For the
most part, they do things like directly convert GURPS Tech Level to HERO
Comeliness, so take that as you will...

No. He's a troll and a halfwit. Killfile him. Do not respond to him.
Killfile anyone who does.

That advice might explain why there is so little traffic on this
newsgroup, if lots of people followed it.
Unfortunately, even after many years, he's still utterly impenetrable. His
brain just doesn't function on a level on which he can comprehend what other
people are saying to him.
