  It does, somewhat, but the reduced DR offered by the lesser armors would &lt;br&gt; mean that in the long run more gets past them. Not more &#39;full damage&#39; &lt;br&gt; attack results, but more damage is done to those wearing less armor, on &lt;br&gt; two fronts (more likely to be hit (and more likely to crit, since the &lt;br&gt; confirmation is easier), and when hit, more damage taken).

  &amp;lt;sn-rip&amp;gt; &lt;br&gt; IMO, the best system would be a combination of AC, DR, and something &lt;br&gt; akin to the damage threshold system of D20 Modern. &lt;br&gt; Shields and Armor up AC (but not nearly as much as current rules). &lt;br&gt; Armor ups DR (as do maybe feats, talents, or powers that up DR, like &lt;br&gt; the 3.5e Barbarian, or some of the Tough Hero talents in D20 Modern).

  This could well work, but it implies all types of armour are equally &lt;br&gt; difficult to bypass. But for full armour, yes, it does sound like it &lt;br&gt; would have similar chances of success. &lt;br&gt; Indeed. I play both D&amp;amp;D and a more realistic-feeling system and they &lt;br&gt; both work. I prefer the latter but that doesn&#39;t make it better.

  Mind you, you could just have criticals (daggers threaten crits on &lt;br&gt; 19-20) bypass armor entirely, while anything less doesn&#39;t (but lesser &lt;br&gt; armors impede the damage less -- dare I say statistically similar, to &lt;br&gt; *you*? *g*) &lt;br&gt; If someone were to go to that degree of detail, no sense going part way. &lt;br&gt; Keith

  If you look at Fantasy or medieval literature (which is what D&amp;amp;D is &lt;br&gt; supposed to emulate), a man with a dagger fighting an opponent in full &lt;br&gt; plate armour must find a gap in the armour to do any damage. Eye slits, &lt;br&gt; unerneath shoulder joins, etc. are popular choices. &lt;br&gt; The point is that no armour covers 100% -- it has weak points and gaps.
