why is it so cheap?

if i compare it with affliction i would get something like this:
affliction, malediction +100%, range (equals melee attack) about -30%,
hearing based -20%.
further: rapier wit is a free action. so there would be an enhancement.
and it is based on a skill. this might be 0%.
the restriction that it can only be used in combat would be unreasonably
high -100%.

on the whole i would get a much higher point cost than rapier wit.

in combination with Fantasy p. 130,this is not balanced when
heart-attack +300% can be used. a potentially deadly free attack every
round.

It is silly cheap because it should only be used in silly campaigns?
:-)

yeah, thats what i originally thought. however, the approach in fantasy
is a different one. they talk about bardic curses being modeled with
rapier wit and any modifier that can be used for afflictions.
