The Live Role Playing Society is a non-profit society which attempts
to promote role playing games and rules systems in a live setting. We
currently run several ongoing games- two vampire chronicles using the
Masquerade rules system, a werewolf game using the Apocalypse rules
systems, both developed and published by White Wolf. The original game of the
Live Role Playing Society, Sunfall, presents medieval / fantasy scenarios
using our own, locally written rules system.
Each game system uses its own methods for character design, theme,
skill and combat resolution, and politics. The vampire and werewolf
campaigns utilize an ongoing system, where a character continues from
game to game largely unchanged. The Sunfall games allow you to totally
redesign your character from game to game, as there is usually little
carry over of events from one game to another- though your loot does
carry over!
All of LRPS's game systems use non-contact based combat systems,
so there's no concern of injury (unless you run into a tree- it is, of
course, a live system).
Games in each rules system run independently of each other, and
usually have a game every month or two. The Sunfall games tend to be run
indoors, and so concentrate in the summer months, but extend from March
through November on occasion at various indoor sites.
The live role playing experience is a dramatic enhancement over
the usual tabletop games, with much more realistic characters and
environment. Sizing up that shady character is completely a judgement
call- not just the prompting of the game master. It's an experience that
must be tried!
LRPS currently runs its games in and around the Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada area. We are currently helping gaming groups in nearby cities to
set up their own gaming societies.
