Continental Empire
|
| |
Is there any automated way to create a continental type Empire map? fairland just doesn't seem to have the capability to create such a beast. Or even a couple of large islands with miltiple sancs. Is there a way to hack fairland to perform such a task? Maybe a script to run as deity? Maybe 1 BIG island in the middle that all sancs start on,... more »

empire-client patch: re-using command filters
|
| |
As promised, here is the small patch for the standard empire command line client to make it easier to run everything through your pager (or other things) again and again. The patch is quite trivial. My changes to the pipe documentation under "Syntax" are actually longer than the change to the code.... more »

Doppleganger Back Up
|
| |
The server crashed today a bit ago, I believe as a result of Cohiba's unrelenting attacks :p... At any rate, it is back up, and I have an error log to figure out. The crash happened *precisely*, to the second, that a bulletin was generated during air interdiction. Markus: Should I send the log entry directly to you?... more »

'repeat' last command
|
| |
Ahoy gods and fellow petty dictators, Is it possible to implement a 'repeat' previous command(s) into the standard code/client, similar to the one in winace? What I mean is say I'm doing a 'fire sect x,x x,x' or whatever. Instead of having to type it out again numerous times until the sector is almost dietied, or paste it, etc., what if I could just do:... more »

Air Defense Mission changes in Server question
|
| |
Greetings: During a spirited discussion in the Dopplganger Blitz, questions regarding Air interception and missions arose. In February, the posting of the change-log indicates that: "Air defense is no longer separate from interception. Putting a plane on air defense now merely changes where it intercepts."... more »

Order of Business
|
| |
Hi All, After squeaking out a few hours here and there to learn a bit more about how things work, I have come up with a very novice approach for what I should be doing in the first few updates. How off am I? Designate all sectors + Designate one of the capitals as a mine Build a warehouse, library and lcm factory... more »

Tech Formula
|
| |
For those of you whom use the Empire via console, on a *nix system, you shoud have an application called `bc` - derived from `dc`, which stands for "Desktop Calculator". bc is more user friendly and has an easy to use, BASIC like scripting interface. I started transferring my Excel formulas to bc - one of the first ones I did... more »

lrange
|
| |
I was recently told that lrange was disabled and is no longer a valid command. Why is that and whose bright idea was this? It was in use during every game I played in before this recently, and since the inception of land units (which some people consider to be an abomination and unbalanced the game, but that's a different story) and... more »
