Greetings.

Ok, so, am I to understand that you *cannot* move bars via ships? Anyone
know why this is so? You can load *cms via cs - but not bars?

The only ship I can think of off of the top of my head that can be
loaded with and carry bars is a yacht.

I built a yacht once but never used it. Bars aren't really supposed
to be moved, only built, or destroyed. Therefore, the placement of
your banks requires very careful planning. Your bank might be the
most important sector(s). It is more important than your cap, *'s
and !'s. Having to move your bank(s) sux.

Never put your bank(s) on the coast unless you absolute have to.
Never, ever.

Btw, never put your real cap on the coast either. Sometimes I build a
fake cap or bank or airfield on the coast, just so the enemy wastes
resources trying to take it. They are surprised when there are no
bars or planes there after expending several troops and shells, or get
no money after thinking they sacked my cap and I would be in flux.

Hm. Never heard of yachts. I don't think they're in-game anymore.

Thanks for the reply. I guess if I *needed* to move bars, I would have
to grind them down and then move the dust - losing some dust in the
process. Hmmm

I know banks should have good placement - but sometimes things change.
Occassionaly, you'll need to move bars. :D I'm wondering what the
rationalle is behind not having a ship that can move bars...land
units can - the SUPPLY and the TRAIN can move bars. There's even
a column in ship.cofig builtins.

Hm, this ist starting to sound like whole moving civs with land
units conversation, LOL.

Anyway, I think I have a solution. Thanks!

CHEERS!

There is also another abomination mod in the version. I can't
remember whose idea this was, but one year they came out with
SUPER_BARS. This was almost as bad as slow war and big cities. Good
thing is that the gods disable it.

What this meant was that you couldn't destroy bars by bombing or
shelling. Craziness. Sometimes people didn't feel like destroying
and sending troops in to occupy your country so they would just blow
up your bank and drop on your airfields.

You're dead.

Of course, the unit can only carry 10 bars. And the cargo ship can
only carry 2 units. so you can only ship 20 bars.

As Garry said, bars are not meant to be moved. You can't really raid
a neighbors bank. You basically have 3 options

1: Trash the bars - Can be a severe blow to his economy and weaken
him enough to get get him off your back.

2: Pin bomb the efficiency. If he is already weak, the loss of the
income for an update might just be enough to put him under.

3: (My favorite) Round up the posse and invade the island. Kill all
his military. Trash all his planes. Enslave his populace (especially
everyone that can fit in a size six or smaller bikini bottom). And
post a couple of chest beating announcements proclaiming how much more
testosterone there is in your blood than his. As a side benefit, you
get to keep all the bars too.

Now, see, I thought big cities would be cool - but make them COST stuff - *cm,
$$$, avail, etc to build. They could take like 1200 avail - so it would take 2
60 ETU updates.

But this is also b/c I though haveing the ability to *deliver* avail would be
cool. Imagine a BIG_CITY that could move its avail, like a commodity, 1 sector
in any direction. Think commuters...

Anyway, don't agree w/ SUPER_BARS though.

Thanks! Good stuff! I reckon the bikini tops don't matter, as, anyone (and by
anyone, I mean anywoman) that can fit into the bottom, is forbidden from
wearing a top...
