Why is that and whose bright idea was this?
It was in use during every game I played in before this recently, and
since the inception of land units (which some people consider to be an
abomination and unbalanced the game, but that's a different story) and
makes no sense at all for it not to be enabled.
Can someone explain this to me why this is so?
It seems to me that this means that mechanized units will have the
same range as non-mechanized units. I seriously doubt that this is
the true intention or will of the gods.
Ciao,

Ignore the above.
Thanks to Scott/Gemini ]G] }G{ for posting the relevant info and
reasoning from a previous game (that I somehow missed), in game,
explaining it to me.
the citizen leader (aka 0 sectors BEEP) had the same problem too, it
seems.
I am salty about the elimination of lrange, but hey, "it is what it
is." I never noticed there was some bug/feature/wrong with the old
implementation. Gladly, it was also explained that automatic
interception and air missions have been changed too. I did not know
that either.
Another thing I don't understand is the threat that the update command
will soon be disabled and eliminated because it is somehow obsolete.
This is blasphemy!

I guess as a relative noob, I'm not sure what you're losing from having the
lrange taken - since missions allow you to set a reaction raduis.
Something else you might be interested in, the requiremtn of shells for flak
was suddenly removed as well - no more keeping 1 shell in a sector with guns
for flak - just need the guns...
From Markus, 3/1/2009:
No kind of flak needs shells as of 4.3.20.
The intensity of flak depends on guns (sectors), guns and efficiency
(ships), or just efficiency (land units). I'm not saying that's how it
should be, just that's how it is.

I would suggest, for anyone who's been out for a bit - meaning a few months,
that you peruse r.g.e; especially for posts with Wolfpack x.x.x Server Release
in the title.
Cheers!

Well, I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with it - just that it
was something inherently different then before, considering he was
surprised by the missing lrange command... :)

I did an apropos, but, that doesn't cut it - you have to read it...a bit
dry, but, quite enjoyable, in some cases...
Speaking of which - WinACE still has the Range command show for Land
Units - and tried to submit a lrange command when chosen.
