However, back in the Bight there is a new bavy, who was SUPPORTED into the
Bight, so, I am no longer allowed to retreat there.
Do I retreat to areas adjacent to the Bight, or to the North Sea, or Both?
IE. Could I retreat to Norway, or the Norweigan Sea, or even Edinburgh?
I lost my rules copy years ago, and I don't play enough to know the rules
well. This is a game thru USIN PBeM KLEINMANS judge, if that makes a
difference?
I _NEED_ this information within 29 hours!!! :P It is Wednesday at 7pm.

Well, your F Helg is dislodged from Helgoland Bight. It never made it into
the North Sea. Since you are dislodged from Helg, you retreat from Helg to
some adjacent vacant sea or coast, but *not* into North Sea (nor into any
other area that is vacant due to a bounce). There is no question of your
'retreating' into Helgoland Bight, by the way. The fleet never left Helg.
It must retreat *from* Helg. So you could retreat to Denmark, or Kiel,
say, but not to Edi or Nwg.
Got it?

No, that makes no difference, the rule in question is the same everywhere.

Your fleet might not have to retreat at all. First, your fleet does not move
into the North Sea, due to the bounce in France. If either of the fleets used
to dislodge your fleet from the Helgoland Bight belonged to you, those orders
fail, because you may not dislodge yourself. If, however, your fleet was
dislodged by another power, you must retreat.
Your fleet may not retreat to the North Sea, because there was a stand-off
there. That leaves Holland, Kiel, and Denmark, but, at least two of those
provinces must have been occupied by the fleets used to dislodge you.
Therefore, assuming that you were in fact dislodged, either you may retreat
to the one open province (remember, you can't retreat to the province from
which the dislodging fleet came), or, if all three provinces were occupied
(or if there was a stand-off in the one vacant province), your fleet will be
destroyed.
Don't take this analysis for the gospel truth, though. I haven't been playing
very long, either.

A unit always retreat from the space it came from. If you could retreat to
Edinburgh you would have moved the fleet two spaces which would violate
the basic rules of the game...

Do you mean your fleet in the Bight was dislodged by an attack
from another power? If it was your own fleet being supported into
the Bight, then it can't dislodge your fleet; your own units can't
dislodge each other, no matter how much support they have.

Only areas adjacent to the Bight, and the North Sea is out,
because it was kept empty by a bounce. You don't get to skip over
the North Sea and land in Edinburgh (ye GODS, what a mess such a
rule would make!<G>). BTW, if you look at the movement phase
results, it should *tell* you what areas are available for your
fleet to retreat to.

Which judge doesn't make a difference, but the fact that you
are playing on a judge should make it easier to see where you can
go. If your fleet was dislodged, the results message should have
a section after the moves list starting with "The following units
were dislodged:" and there should be a line there saying either,
"The X fleet in Helgoland Bight can retreat to ..." (with the
elipsis being replaced by a list of those vacant areas surrounding
the Bight which were not left vacant due to a bounce), or "The X
fleet in Helgoland Bight with no valid retreats was destroyed."
