I've started a Corewar Wiki at http://corewar.wikia.com as suggested
by Ilmari. Everyone is welcome to contribute.
The Wiki currently defaults to GFDL and I can't see how to replace it
with Creative Commons. It might have to be dual licensed. Any
thoughts?
Cheers,
John

To do it properly, you'd have to change the $wgRightsText config
variable (<http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgRightsText>). I'm
not sure how to do that on Wikia, or indeed if it's possible without
help from the Wikia staff. It should be possible somehow, since there
do exist Wikia wikis with different licenses:
I tried asking at the Wikia IRC channel, #wikia on freenode, but all I
got back was a rumour that Wikia's planning a sitewide license change
(per the GFDL 1.3 relicensing clause) soon. (If so, they'll have to
do it before the August 1 deadline.)
Anyway, as a temporary measure, you could edit the interface message
that are used to notify users of the license and make them say that
all content will also be multilicensed under, say, CC-BY-SA 3.0. I
believe at least the following messages should be modified:
http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Copyright
http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning
http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning2
and possibly also:
http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Footer_License
http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Monaco-footer-wikia-links
Note that the first three messages above all contain placeholder
variables like $1 or $2, one of which will be replaced with the text
"GFDL" and a link to
<http://corewar.wikia.com/wiki/Core_War_Wiki:Copyrights> (which also
should be changed) when the message is actually shown.
