I thinks to the game, the fishing pole is in the left hand and the weapon is
in the right. but on the doll its in the same hands. Unless it was a two
handed weapon, then I dunno about that one.

I have equppied my spell book and a fishing pole, and was very confused.

What skill is fishing when you hit someone with the pole?

Just page a GM and ask the same question - the results are funny.. I
saw someone macroing in a bank who just happened to have a weapon and
fishing pole in hand... GM_Spitfire appeared a few seconds later (this
was Europa - GMs there actually respond promptly and usually with more
than just the "I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do" macro), and
poof went the offender.

both fishing pole and smithing hammer in hand (50 smithing skill also).
Just another "feature" of uo I guess =P

I did a little macroing with fishing. I equipped my weapons and doubleclicked
on the pole in my pack. It replace my weapons with the pole, made the cast,
returned results, and then re-equipped the weapons. Of course, fishing throught
the bottom of a boat prevents those nasty sea serpents from getting you.

Ach, I normally check down the thread so I'm not repeating someone else. Now
imagine my disbelief
when no one seems to know the truth.

It's not an exploit, nor is it 'far out and wacky'. Simply equip your fishing
pole and drop a weapon
in your hand (I think it only applies for 1H weapons).
I frequently use a fishing pole/kryss combo for Taralo, giving him his fishing
ability (I
love the anim) and some basic defence.

None. Anyone can do that with a fishing pole.

I think it's just a little weird that you assume this is a cheat.
Look, this is *easy* to figure out. Equip a fishing pole. Now equip
a one-handed weapon. Tada! You've managed to "cheat".

What do you mean by "offender"? What was he doing that was offending
you? I mean, you didn't say what it was he was macroing.

Just happened to be musicianship AND lockpicking... Frankly I can
forgive lockpicking, but why did he have to pick the damn lute?

I suppose if I have the time and the inclination, I would probably found
out for myself. But since I dont have a fishing pole handy, and it's
probably faster just to voice it here and gauge the responses. So it's
not a cheat, just a new feature that came with the patch. I also thought
that it was also a new feature some months back when I saw someone with an
order shield and a halberd...

You have *always* been able to equip a one-handed weapon and a fishing
pole at the same time.

I didn't know that, I haven't try fishing much at all. Does the pole
always equip on the same hand as the weapon in the past?
