Ok my friend is planning on purchasing a nightmare with his low 60's taming
and lore...
Someone please tell me he will loose control of it rather quickly and have
it kill him :)
I wanna tell him I tolda ya so :)

They probably won't even get the transfer screen.

But they may get lucky, I was transferring a dragon to someone with ~93
taming and one refused while another transferred, I don't know what lore
they had.

The rumor is: The stronger an animal is to tame, the tougher it is to
control even within species. So even if they do manage to get high end pets,
they will probably be the weak end.

Just a bit thread drift, but I mentioned in another thread about Baja
crashing probably costing me a couple of dragons. When I finally logged in
the next day with my tamer, they were inside the stables. I called "Claim"
and sure enough I didn't lose a single dragon so it was good I didn't get my
shorts up in a bunch over nothing.

If the revert had been off by 30 seconds, I would have lost them. I use two
different stables, each with a lizard or two, just in case something like
that happens, but taming one is not that difficult if you have another
player or two that knows how it is done.

The only sad thing is the dragon I tamed in the Deamon Temple a few seconds
before the crash was absolutely the best damn dragon I have ever seen in the
game. The dragon never did less then 50 points damage with its fireballs.
Even at just a sliver of life while I was taming it, it seemed to do 10-20
points of damage every breath. I never got to check what it scratched like,
but I probably would have been ghosting if I had. For a while I thinking it
was a GM spawned special one, it was that tough.

I have only transferred two dragons in my time in UO and one white wyrm. The
white wyrm transferred long before the patch that made them harder to
control. I was in the high 50's in tamin skill and tamed it after someone
let it go wild. She was in the high 70's in taming, so the transfer went
almost immediately and without a problem.
The two dragons both went to people with no less than 75 taming skill. One
had 77 taming and 69 lore, the other had 75 taming 78 lore. For both of
them, I had to make a macro that said "all transfer" and just keep hitting
it over and over until I got the trade screen. Both took less than 10 tries,
but more than 2.
Most chessy tamers won't transfer to anyone with less than 70 taming and
lore anyway. If they do, they are in it for the money, and nothing else.
If you do find someone that happens to sell one to your friend, let your
friend buy it, and then just let him go. He'll lose it in less than a week.

hehehe... I wish I had the guts to be nearby when it bucks him off and licks
his brain after toasting it. But I ain't crazy enough to try to go up
against a nightmare which if I have heard correctly will RUN after you. Ahh
I feel sorry for his guildmates if they are close by when he gets tossed.

Umm wait... do I?

He says he is gonna get it for 40 - 60k... decent price for a mare?

I paid 150k for mine on Oceania, with the spawns blocked not much you can
do.

I think about 80k is standard, so your friend is getting a good price.

Saate.
