My findings after a few days of owning one given to me by a very
good friend in my guild:
They are very easy to upkeep. I feed him maybe twice more often than
a regular horse. Spanky is happy alot. :)
PK's or people that generally mess with others don't do it to someone
riding one out in the woods. Even in superior numbers... :)
EVERYONE has a cheery disposition towards you even the people that
think it's JUST a horse
They are pretty mean to anything that doesn't like you :)
If you have ever had a pet start wandering around aimlessly and had to
run after one and tell it to stop, You would not catch a
nightmare...they are very quick. I got lucky and he "wandered" my
direction. Not sure if when ridden they are any faster than a horse
though.
Ok now the big surprise. After showing Spanky off and killing maybe
10 elementals all in town, A few Ettins Trolls and Liz Men in the New
World he has stopped breathing fireballs as often if at all. But that
might be because those things he was fighting weren't magic users and
as powerful as an Elemental. If there is a "limit" to the number of
Breath Weapons they have then please somebody tell me.

They get nerfed, just like Dragons and Drakes.
