What scares me is when he said "sometimes it works".

Yet another hole in the good ole UO program.

I know if you are in a guild and a guild member fires one of these off it
is bad news.

What I am not sure of is if you are joined to a guild and a person
outside the guild fires one how it would effect me.

My guess would be that it might hurt :(

If any unguilded person tries to attack anyone in a guild, it's just as if
they are attacking another player. The ONLY people that can directly harm
eachother in trammel are people in the same guild OR people in a guild at
war with EACHOTHER.

But obviously, this person was trying to attack someone that he normally
wouldn't be able to attack and he said that "sometimes it works".

What he was trying to do was get the blade spirit to poison you. There
was a small chance, if you targeted it just right, that it could poison
anyone standing next to it when it was first cast.

I believe they've fixed it now, though.

I was in Shame on Great Lakes (in Trammel). I cast a BS. It came after me
and did damage. It also went after a few other Dungeon Crawlers and hurt
them too. Naturally, they were a bit P.O.ed at me. Do BS now do damage in
Dungeons in Trammel? or was it a fluke? This happened about 2 or 3 weeks
ago.

He was dead right. One night in the blood ele spawn point in pre-re-revamp
Shame, (my tamer still unguilded at this point), I cut loose a bs next to
the blood another buddy was fighting. I'll be damned if he didnt snap and
get poisoned! The bs wasnt ticking damage off him but it did poison him.

Never thought about it again until here. Worst case scenario, some griefer
drops one next to you while your fighting something and you get poisoned
thinking it was to *help* you.

You know the coolest thing about trammel for a tamer is that the *instant*
that dragon is tamed, it doesnt do any breath/melee damage to you unless
guilded, but I'm guilded and it seems to me it still doesn't hurt me.

Always good for a laugh when I'm out with my tamers guild and I finally nail
a tame on a dragon and come running by them with a dragon on me roaring and
spitting and sputtering and clawing and casting and all I'm saying is
"hehe". Man, the IVM's are flying and I love them for it, but it's always a
shocker to the less informed as to how I can stand there and laugh as a
dragon is gnawing on me.

Even better are the rude pricks that actually, even in the midst of mulitple
dragons spawning, try to kill the dragon all the while you tame it and find
out that all of a sudden (once dino is tamed) they can't seem to get a Por
Corp Wis or a Corp Por off (trammel rules only).

LOL (thats my response as they sit there following me and my dragon out
pausing occasionally to cast said spells)

Let me tell you something about treasure maps that *might* change your mind.

I have a low level t-hunter, Gallick. He can only do level 1 maps, and I'm
perfectly happy with that. I don't want him to be able to do higher levels
and have to start a second career by people calling for his service.

One reason why I only want him to do levels 1s is that there are many people
like you that believe "they just aren't worth it" and they throw them away
or sell them for cheap. To me being able to locate a map in 10 minutes
(thank you, Stratics), recall close to it, dig, fight 6 mongbats and
skeletons and walk away with 1000gp, 3-500gp of gems and a load of magic
items is quite worth it.

The main reason I do it and the reason I think will change your mind... the
magic items spawned do not depend upon level. You have just as much chance
of getting that surpassingly accurate silver katana of vanquishing on a
level 1 as you do on a 5. The only difference between magic items on
treasure maps is the quantity. You have more of a chance of getting really
good ones on a level 5 because more spawn.

I've run out of maps lately, so I've called upon my guildmates to donate or
sell their level 1s that they don't want. I intend to stock our guildstore
and/or surplus vendor with the loot. Now I'm working on his lockpicking so
he can snag all of those brigand and gypsys chests that spawn in our town.
:-)

If you're on Baja, I'll gladly buy your level 1 maps that you don't want.

As for the dummies that try to do anything to you in Trammel... thbppppttt
to them.

Good luck.

2 weeks ago I got *really* bored and broke out the fisherman. Got 5 sos's
in about 4 hours total play time and fished them up. Got 2 level 1's, one
level 2, and one level 3. The 2 level 1's yielded, a substantial accurate
bow of vanquishing and a really plain vanilla katana of vanq...like a
massive katana of vanquishing IIRC. The level 2 and 3 yielded the usual
clump of gems and scrolls also and the only notables were several invis
items which I just love for mare taming in Trammel.

2 freaking level 1's!!! 2 vanqs!!

Darius is serioulsy on to something here folks.

Do you mean only spontaneously, as I am not in a warring guild but if I
say all attack, they go green and are thus attackable by me/guildmates. If
i dont get them to attack or guard me they stay blue. Maybe its just guard
me that does it - i forget.

I've had a fair few silvers off lvl 1 hunts and sos now. I think I had 1
or 2 vanqs also.
I never do level 2 or over hunts (due to my crap thunter character).
But the fact that the other day I pulled up a lvl3 chest was well worth
fishing.
