I just got back from hunting moving things in shame level 3: This is what I
found.
5k gold
1 halbred of force and fortification (how much would someone pay for this?)
1 Magic bone arms (I had no idea there was such things!) of Guarding
1 bonnet of Strength (stupid thing gives me 10 str - to 110)
a small amount of regs
an insane amount of jewels (Why, oh why did OSI ruin the 'starter'
elemental - earth?)
an insane amount of scrolls (6 - 7 level)
Magic studdel leather gorget (defence) - good newbie item to give away
All this in an hour.
And no, no PKing. Actually, I did ressurect some poor bloke who fell under
three eather ellies. If he had killed them, he would have gotten 6 jewels
for his trouble. If only all were diamonds ..
Fire ellies aren't too great now either - sure, they put out the cash - but
they lack in magic items. Air elementals are the things to kill for
'maximum stuff' - 450 gp a piece, and 2 e-bolts to kill.
Does anyone know if blood/poison ellie loot has changed?
Anyways, back to real life.

Yes, well sorta.. Expect about 450 gps, 4 nightshade, one potion, and one
scroll. I did pull 650 off of one yesterday.. I also found magic leather
gloves on one.. so I don't know if the magic weaponry gets any better than
that.
What out for the poison area on shame on GL. There are a BUNCH of those
pansie 'wait until he's drained from fighting the poison elemental' to
attack him type of people.. they almost got me.
but, not a ton of pks usually. Shame is a good place to make money.

It seems silly, though - poison/blood elemental loot being the same as Air
ellie loot - the Air takes two e-bolts, while with the Poison or Blood
ellie, 2 e-bolts would barely scratch it.
In case people havn't tried fighting these things, here's an example of how
tough they are: I provoked two earth ellies to attack a poison. The poison
dispatched both and only a speck of red was showin on it's life bar ..
They should up the loot on these things.

Actually - wouldn't it be neat is stratics had provokation info? Like what
it takes to kill what, or what won't work at all .. It's a good measure of
toughness - just pick a 'base creature' and see how long it takes (or how
many of them) it takes to kill a certain other creature. Because, I think
that the OR and DR there are highly subjective - maybe even a tad misleading
in some cases (though it's not too bad as a general rule).. This would
quantify the measuring ..

The reason there isn't more loot is all the exploitive, easy methods
of killing these types of monsters (BS, EV - just wait till their mana
is out so they can't dispell, provoke - yes, this is an 'easy' method
of killing monsters, etc) - that make their "difficulty rating" actually
quite low, even tho they're much harder than other monsters.
They were originally designed as something a group of people would have
to tackle - and yes, if that was actually true, their loot would
be better.

Exactly the opposite. The poison elemental area in Shame is one of the surest
places to find the worst pk's, and I find them there quite often. Uh, and they
find me. And I leave. On a couple of occasions, dead.

The poison & blood give the advantage of extra karma and fame, a lot more Resist
building, and vastly greater enhancement of your testosterone level.

Since simple maneuvering to go around obstacles has been ... not forthcoming,
I suggest that these "tough" monsters be made tougher by giving them teleport
ability.

I guess it might depend on the shard and the time. I know, for instance, on
Great Lakes - HitSquad does business there - they are not a friendly bunch.
But on Europa, it's fairly quiet. Last time I went, there were about 8
sorta-new chars (I had to res one) all battling the earth elementals on the
third lev. I've been attacked there once - recalled away .. It's no
Deceit, I can tell ya that!

This is true, but for the amount of money (spells, potions, you name it!) it
takes to kill it, the least it can do is turn a profit!
Yes, offers all those things - but it's tougher to kill - greater risk. If
you die to one, it's pretty exensive. May as well stick to the air allies.

Earths are tough enough, thank you. Not all monsters need to be amped up in
toughness. Some need to be toned down, in fact. Orc mages, which I had finally
built up the Resist to deal with with a certain amount of confidence, have
become far too deadly once again, because OS "fixed" monster-cast Explosion.
Orc mages were bad enough, slinging so many ebolts and flamestrikes around. Now
explosion means that one does not dare allow more than a few points of damage to
accumulate, and if they happen to cast two real quick, if you are not a Resist
cheater, you are dead.
Top-end monsters are the ones that need to be tougher. Bloods. Air's too,
since they are just richer water's. And maybe some of those critters in the
new lands.

Teleport is a GREAT idea! Of course...I liked when monsters would
Heal themselves too. :)
They did? Damn! Are the servers so starved for CPU cycles that every
element of monster AI is being dumbed down? Speaking of which, has
anyone noticed that monsters take even longer to notice you and attack
now? Sometimes, outdoors, you can walk circles around them before
they actually attack.
