The scene is the forge in Britain;

RingSnapper: Hail, Grimstorm Farfil.

Grimstorm Farfil: Hello Ring.

RingSnapper: You GM yet?

Grimstorm Farfil: Yep. Just made it a few minutes ago. :)

RingSnapper: Hey, Congrats.

Grimstorm Farfil: Thanks. Want to see my new macro?

RingSnapper: Sure.

Grimstorm Farfil: GM Smith for Finely Crafted Armour and Weapons, Free
Repairs and
Appraisals, Available for Hire.

RingSnapper: Very impressive, how long did it take you.

Grimstorm Farfil: Just a few minutes, had to fiddle with the spaces a
bit though.

RingSnapper: Nooooo....I mean GM

Grimstorm Farfil: Oh...lol....about 2 months, but I played with other
characters as well

RAND ALTHOR: Any GMz

Grimstorm Farfil: GM Smith for Finely Crafted Armour and Weapons, Free

RingSnapper: I'm at 86, what should I be making?

RAND ALTHOR: Any GMz

Grimstorm Farfil: GM Smith for Finely Crafted Armour and Weapons, Free
Repairs and

Grimstorm Farfil: I think I was making plate helms and gloves then.

RingSnapper: Hmm...I might try that, I'm not getting any gain from
gorgets.

RAND ALTHOR: Any GMz.
Any GMz.
Any GMz.
Any GMz????????

Grimstorm Farfil: GM Smith for Finely Crafted Armour and Weapons, Free

RingSnapper: Grimstorm is GM.

RAND ALTHOR: r u GM?

Grimstorm Farfil: Yes, I am GM, and you are my first customer :)

RAND ALTHOR: can u repair free plz

Grimstorm Farfil: ok, put it in a bag and hand it over.

RAND ALTHOR: How do I know u GM?

Grimstorm Farfil: Because it says so on my armour.

RAND ALTHOR: No, it just says made by Grimstorm Farfil.

Grimstorm Farfil: Only GMs can have their name on armour they make

RAND ALTHOR: How do I know u made it?

Grimstorm Farfil: Huh! It has my name on it!

RAND ALTHOR: u could've found it

Grimstorm Farfil: Found it!...what do you mean found it? You think I was
wandering about Britain and came across a full set of Valorite plate, heater
and katana lying around, that was made by a GM smith that, through some
amazing coincidence, had the same name as me?

RAND ALTHOR: Might have.

Grimstorm Farfil: Jeez!

RingSnapper: Rand...he is GM. You can trust him man.

RAND ALTHOR: ok. Can u repair magic stuff?

Grimstorm Farfil: Yes. Any stuff. Just bag it and give, thank you.

Grimstorm Farfil: Is that it? Just one accurate scimitar of ruin?

RAND ALTHOR: It's magic.

Grimstorm Farfil: bah!

Grimstorm Farfil: Aaaarrrghhh!

RingSnapper: What?

RAND ALTHOR: What?

Grimstorm Farfil: I've destroyed it.......... Never mind I'll make you a
new one.

RAND ALTHOR: can u make magic stuff?

Grimstorm Farfil: No, but I can make you a GM katana, a better weapon
than the one you had.

RAND ALTHOR: I want my magic one. Why u destroy it?

Grimstorm Farfil: I'm sorry. It was beyond repair, it was an accident.

RAND ALTHOR: I'm calling GM

RingSnapper: I just got .1 gain

Grimstorm Farfil: I'm logging.

FWIW, theres nothing implausible about someone buying armour from a GM
smith and then making a newbie character with the same name. its also
a not unknown scam to claim the item 'broke' and keeping it, altho
perhaps with bigger fish.

But it was pretty funny - I think he might be an ex guild member too.

BTW. Now if you find a tamer or take him out with a party you could take
his fame to illustrious. That way the customers would look at your paper
doll and see the GM title.

I generally throw away magic items below might and hardening. I see ruin
items on vendors for outrageous prices now. It seems that anything magic is
better than anything GM now.

I was rather surprised by his attitude till I realized he didn't even
know what a GM weapon was:) I use 'exceptional' weapons almost
exclusively myself. There's just his *HUGE* gap in price between a
magic weapon and it exceptional counterpart without a similar gap in
their effectiveness. Now, I do have a silver longsword for when
undead sneak up on me and I have a pre-patch hally (old old pre-patch
like 98-99) enshrined in my 'I'll break your fingers if you touch it'
box but that's about it. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some
virtue weapons though... just to get a chance to try them. Must be
killing the wrong monsters as I've never seen one.

I do a fair amount of monster harvesting and they are a fairly rare drop. I
would put them at somewhere around the same level as map drops or lower.

I've only picked up two anyway in 100k's of gold worth of monster bashing.
Something like one of arachnid phobia and dirt bagging<jk>. I figure the
spider one is probably pretter usless except to hang on a wall, but that
sword would probably be worth several times its weight in gold for people
that like bashing earth elementals in Shame.

I've been harvesting demons lately, and I got a spear of elemental health.
Do you know if that works on any elemental?

BTW, the spider death weapon works on terathans, so it might be useful to
someone who does a bit of hunting there. I have never seen someone
succesfully melee a Terathan Avenger, this might be just the thing to do it.

Wow, that is a useful tip. It didn't even occur to me. I was thinking maybe
I could find someone around Yew that killed giant spiders or maybe a
treasure hunter that had to deal with dread spiders.

What's the tactics with them....

The nearest I saw was a guy with a halberd, using what he called "drive-by"
tactics, running past quickly and chopping at them. He came to a sticky end
with a DP hit, flamestrike and e-bolt.
