Hail All Citizens of Britannia!!

In My recent travels i have come across a bit of a mystery.
While traveling along the Back Side of the Mt Of Shame i meet a Young Man
Dressed in Orange And Blue.
Now these being strange colors in themselfs i approched carefuly
and said hail.
This Man whos name escapes me bid me hello and then went in to a meditative
trance. (as this is a new fad in the land.)
When he was done he said would you like to know the Biggiest Mystery in UO?
I said sure who would not?

He then put a crystal ball on the ground and said here it is!

In my amazment as i gazed at this crystal ball the Orange and blue man. said
these words.
Kal Ort Por Vas Ort Flam
And in a Big Bang he was gone.

i have seen these crystal balls in homes and shops from time to time as i am
the local Trashman guildmaster in most towns.

Now i have consulted many People in the land and here is what i have
learned.
1. A crystal Ball is heavy exactly how heavy i do not know.
2.They come from creatures in dungons.
What dungons is unclear.
3 According to people they have no function.
(I do not belive this).

I would really like to be able to tell people more about these so if you
have any ideas please respond to the group rather then just to me as i am
sure everyone would like to know.

Thank you
Sir Scott Of Moonglow (Sonoma)

1. Ten stones
2. From spell casting monsters mainly, usually on the stronger ones liches and
such. Sometimes in chests
3. Use them to pratice magery on. It still uses mana and reagents. No bonus for
using them . Just lets you cast on it for gaining skill.

they have no use i dont think, decoration, and u can target them for
spells... so u can cast EB target the ball and it works the same as if u
targeted a monster, interms of gaining skill etc...

Not too heavy. I carried around a bag with 15 or so and didn't have
any trouble.

Try Covetous. The lich room has them laying around usually. People
don't want them.

Well, that's kind of half way true. A favorite old rumor is that
they are used for magery practice. It is true that you can cast magic
and target a crystal ball and the spell will be cast. No animation will
occur, but reagents and mana are consumed and you get magery skill.
However, this works just as well with any item you can target. A chair,
a backpack, a treasure chest, kindling, a pile of nightshade, etc. all
produce the same effect. There's nothing special about crystal balls.
(At least not now anyway.)

I think it would be cool if you cast a spell on a crystal ball and it
ricochet around the room.

Just a thought

P.S. Doesnt casting on a crystal ball stop summon spells such as BS from
manifesting

Mind blast sure!!
Not too sure on area spells inside town tho ill have to try it out.
You can cast on them in town I am sure, but I usually dont pratice magery in
town so not totally sure.

Why in the world would you cast mark on a crystal ball?

You don't raise magery using reg-hungry spells like Mark. Good skill
raising sixth level spells are ebolt, invisibility and reveal.

So does casting BS on a pile of ore, or a wall for that matter.

BSD: A psychoactive drug, popular in the 80s, probably developed at UC
Berkeley or thereabouts. Similar in many ways to the prescription-only
medication called "System V", but infinitely more useful. (Or, at least,
more fun.) The full chemical name is "Berkeley Standard Distribution".

This is one hell of a funny post if you think of BS as being the standard
meaning for the abbervation(bullshit)

I read somewhere that if you double-click them they might replay conversations
that happened in that area in the recent past.

Sir Scott,

Simply put, a crystal is a place for magi to practice their art. It absorbs
the energies they unleash and produces no (ill)effects.

They are quite beneficial for those who would learn the more archane 7th
level spells as many are damage producing area effects.

However, they can be used by any one. Incant the words of power and aim
your concentration at the ball, let fly the energies and you will feel the
cosmic forces flow outward from you. As you may be aware, more practice
means better skill.

Good luck in your journeys,
Merlin of Amber / Napa

Next time I see someone sitting in a chair, Chain Lightning.

BTW: Is there a reason why I can't cast chain in town anymore?

Of course. Nothing wrong with that. Did I tell you about the last fish I
caught? :) Couldn't carry it, it was too big. I didn't think you could
catch dolphins without a net. Heh heh heh... kidding of course. I'm lucky
to catch a wet hook when I fish.
