i usually run around the town looking for NPC's with cool things to take.
lots of times i come across someone saying "i'm waiting for an escort to
<place>. if you wish, say 'i'll take thee" .. before i confirm, i snoop
their pack to see what they have. usually nobles have 400 or so GP on them,
i say "ill take thee" and take em out of town and rob them.

if i were, say, to take one to their destination, what do they pay? (on
average)

thanks
Delilah

i'm glad i just rob them instead of risking life and limb to only get half
as much gold.

I think they pay between 100 - 500g. It's a great way to pay for all those
regs when you are working on a mage and can finally cast a gate. If you find
a good bunch, you can make 2000g in a matter of minutes.

I know I will hate myself for telling you this, but you really want to do
both so they are worth up to 1300 gold each + magical items.

As a Rogue this is the best way to make money. If you can't gate and you
haven't got a rune book to all the towns and dungeons, forget it. Once
you can get to that status, it is really big monies. I think I've heard
that you can rob them, then take them to their destination and they will
still pay you. Not sure on this, a lot of them don't even have
backpacks.

On my first night playing my now deleted rouge, i escorted a young man to
Vesper...
Halfway there, i decided to snoop his pack.

I was a thief, may as well do my thing, i figured...

Well, he had 215 gold and a gem on him, screamed for the guards when i took it,
then was kind enough to wait 2 minutes for me to go blue, and finish the
escort, at which point he produced another 400 gold, probably from some
concealed pouch....

Tricky NPC's.....

yeah, but i can be lazy at times and not want to escort. i can be happy with
getting the 400GP i steal and then running away.

i could have sworn that i read somewhere that the NPC's waiting for escorts
were all not going to have backpacks on them, just so you HAD to escort them
to get money. i've noticed that a LOT of NPC's like mages or bards or
whatever DONT have backpacks, but adventurers, fighters and nobles do.
