Hi All!

I haven't been here for awhile, but things are beginning to loosen up enough
for me to start playing again. Fortunately I have a roommate that keeps the
house updated, and I was able to dock my boat before leaving.

I recently pulled up a treasure chest, and ended up with a nice item. It's
a Supremely Accurate Heavy Crossbow of Weakness and Vanquishing.

Now I'm willing to let low-medium items go fairly cheap, but when I get a
decent one, I want a fair price. I know Archery isn't as good as it used to
be, but I figure if I wait for the Archery update, this'll go for decent
bucks.

The Merchant Essay on Stratics says a max price of 30,000 gp. I've found
this essay to be low frequently, so I was wondering if anyone here could
tell me what they've seen it going for.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Ingot.

You may want to wait a bit before you put this up for sale. There is going
to be an archery patch that increases fire rates.

I wouldn't pay that much under current archery nerfs. If it was silver, then
I would consider it. Right now, a heavy seems to be tied with a normal bow
for damage over time.

it gives you the high *and* the low prices of all items. But you might want
to check them both out as I have seen some switched (high price is actually
the low and vice versa).

Heh. I *wish* I could find a katana of vanquishing for 4k...
And notice, a silver weapon is often the same price or less than a
non-silver, otherwise identical weapon.

Lock it down on the mantle (if you can get a mantle, which would be worth far
more than the bow).

We have recently had all the archery update we are going to see. This weapon is
not likely to be worth anything as a weapon. Lock it down on the mantle and
show it off as a rare item.

#C0ugH# +kopf+ @cHoK3@ Stratics, he says. Hey, they do some good stuff.
Pricing has NEVER been part of that.

The archery nerf has not been undone at all, and isn't going to be. This item
is not something I would consider taking into a fight anywhere but in the new
lands, close to home, where another of my characters can retrieve it if I died,
which I would if I were to rely on this, which will fire about as often as Mt
St. Helens.

This is already in place on LS, and it's nothing to be concerned about. Archery
is terminally nerfed.

Trouble is, the firing period is so long, you have time to apply for social
security. And it's a LOT harder to get the timing right, so you know when to
stop. The HXBow remains a useless curiosity, like 14 kinds of fruit in the game
when one will do.

No it isn't.

Maybe just me, I can take the firing rate, but that damn equip delay really
kills my archers.

Typical exchange with lich, Orc mage, elemental
Equip bow and wait for it to fire
[monster casts poison,
remove bow and cast cure or quaff a potion,
equip bow and wait for it to fire]^n

They are also reducing the max damage for bows which may make the new
situation worse then the current. This is another case of fixing something
that isn't broken, I mean the maximum damage from a bow is laughable to
everyone involved in PvP, but OSI still wants to fix it. I imagine they
polled UTB or something for this.<sic>

In article <sccub4...@corp.supernews.com>,

Hey you just a minute! You leave my poor tamers out of this! FYI RC,
archery is alive and kicking on test center right now. I know this as
a friend and I made your basic 7x GM
Archer/Bowyer/Fletcher/Resist/Tacs/Healing/Anatomy happy fun characters
to do a little street battle outside of Vesper. OMG what a difference,
enough so that both of us are now going to build up similar character
models for use on Wakoku. At any rate we were at the south end of the
road running between the Vesper west entrances in front of the
graveyard (btw, anyone wanting to see what a mess UO was just after
release, make a newbie in vesper and take a walk down that road on
TC). At any rate, it went more something like equip, target,
attackTHUNK, run a few steps THUNK. Now we were using personally
crafted gm bows and had alot of our opponents (and victims) asking wtf
we got our hands on Vanq bows. Yes, it was that impressive. I
strongly suggest heading over there, even though you don't like it now,
and check out archery. WOW

I'll give it a try right now.

My tamer is GM archery, I was counting off the time between shots on Baja,
one shot every 9 seconds. I hope I made the right decision to let maces
drop.
