PvP Archery is useful in some circumstances, useless in others. You have
to know when to use it and, more importantly, when not to.
I usually walk around with bow in hand, as soon as someone attacks me
auto-defend kicks in and I'm returning fire.
Exceptional heavy x-bows can do massive damage, a good hit will often
drop your opponent to right around half health. Good magic bows and
heavies are even better.
Biggest drawback: when people get hurt, they run. When they run, they
are immune to arrows. So most of the time you will need a melee skill to
finish anybody off. After the initial volley I usually drop my bow in
favor of a poisoned war fork or a spear. I'll go back to the bow when
circumstances call for it, but those situations are few and far between
in your typical ongoing battle with everybody warping all over the place.
It can be more useful if you do a lot of territorial warfare where the
emphasis is on large groups taking or holding a fortified position. The
big fights at the faction strongholds, or the Shadowclan orc fort on SP.
But in essence you are burning 100 skill points on something which will
often be used only at the very beginning of combat.

You need healing/anat, won't have enough mana/med to stay alive without
it. Anat also gives you a damage bonus. And stealth would prevent you
from wearing proper armor.
My template:
Archery
Fencing
Magery
Resist
Anatomy
Healing
Tactics
Of course, if I wasn't so lazy I'd probably drop Archery and Fencing
in favor of Swords and Wrestling. Seems like that would be a more useful
combo, given my style of fighting. But I do still enjoy Archery.
>Would I be able to get in a killing blow?
Not if your enemy is running away from you.
> Could an opponent just heal between each of my shots?
A mage probably could, assuming he didn't get interrupted and didn't
panic. That's why you charge with melee after the first hit. :/
Warriors who work together can soak up a lot of damage with cross-heals
that take ~3 seconds, but a solo warrior with ~11 second bandages will be
too slow without going to potions and magery. Of course most warriors
would just run anyway...

MB uses modified stats. I usually buff my stats with Bless prior to
combat, then use Str and Agil potions when that runs out mid-fight.
I believe the magic number for melee insta-hits is now 74 modified dex,
but you're better off staying at 85 or higher (after armor penalty) for
faster attacks (melee and missle both) and so you can take a Clumsy spell
without losing insta-hit.
> Last question, if you invis before you hide, do you
>still have to be 8 tiles away with GM hiding, or break LOS?
Not if you invis, so long as your opponent fails to reinitiate combat
using field spells or explosion potions or such. Teleport/hide should
also work. Need to toggle out of combat or auto-defend can mess you up.

Can be valuable as a supplemental skill, but you don't want to rely on
it as your primary means of attack.
Mocker, IRL
Yes. I don't like it against mages or a poisoner.

Better on a team with a designated healer then solo.
What will happen is more likely get poisoned, 12 seconds for a bandage to
work, get poisoned, 12 seconds for a bandage to work.
Or
Get poisoned, disarm to drink a <cast>cure, equip bow, get poisoned before
it goes off. Toss in a few ebolts and MB and you have a real problem.
It is sometimes better then nothing when you have a mage that can move about
3 times your speed. They run off screen to precast, run on screen and let an
ebolt go, your bow goes off and tags them.
It is generally better anytime you have a faster then someone.

If everything is done right in one on one PvP with well prepared characters,
nobody dies until someone makes a mistake or runs out of something like
potions or mandrake.
The exception to this used to be Energy Vortex spell against people with
high intelligence, I'm not sure this is true anymore. They used to hit
for -10 across the board curse type stat decrease and poison you. They also
moved faster then 95% of the players which was usually good enough to kill
them.
