Is there any advantage to Mace weapons? Does that 'stamina attack'
and 'armor attack' really amount to anything?

Damages armour+sheilds very well in PvP.

The stamina attack is now FUBAR due to all weapons (and offensive spells)
now decreasing stamina.

Not for conventional play. Mace weapons are kind of underpowered relative to
bladed. The big hitters are two handers so you have problems when you get
poisoned.

A high dex/str character that is otherwise naked using a quarter staff is
kind of a good option for PvP against a mage. If you lose, you lose a 12
gold quarter staff and a couple of bandages.

Other comments:

I see more fighters with fencing (for the para blow), and few fighters
with maces. Maces are good for fighting other fighters, but not as good
against mages (compared to fencing). The stamina drain from maces is ok
but can be countered by a prepared foe using total refreshes. The armor
destroying capability of maces helps in a long fight against another
fighter, but otherwise isn't that useful, and it will destroy blessed
items (items that take wear during combat) and so will make you very
unpopular.

The plus side to maces is that it seems that most folks seem to find
more vanq maces than vanq swords/fencing weapons. Also, as Rick
mentions, using a staff with healing charges (or whatever other charges
the staff may have) is kinda fun, you can do damage and keep yourself
healed at the same time. It works pretty well vs. mages.

I've gotten turned in twice to GMs as a cheater doing this. Kind of
supprising how few people can figure out what is happening. "UR using a hack

Back when staves were included in the mace stamina-drainer category,
they sure were effective vs mages, and not many used them for that so it
was often a surprise to the targets. I bet you surprised a lot of mages
with that trick *grins*

It's PvM I'm interested in, not PvP....

They will be useful to shatter Invul armor in dungeons once the new PvP
system goes in.

The bonuses to 2 handed weps (such as the spear's parablow) apply to pvm
also.

But doing this too often will make you a big target when Justice and the
ability to protect blues, letting them stay blue even if they do something that
would normally flag them red.

The guy you cracked a few too many times'll just get a friend who's good at
PvP, protect them, then make your life hell.

*sighs*
Justice has such a gigantic loophole in it, it's not even funny.

You obviously misunderstood the Justice system. Re-read the text carefully.

Not if you keep him healed up full.
