Is there a certain chest(or type of chest) i should pick on?
Location(s) of such a chest(s)??

There are some chests in guard towers which i couldnt open until
I had 96 lockpicking:
160 18 115 1 (Serpents Hold near inn)
157 30 109 53 (Serpents Hold near entrance to fire dungeon)
104 3 34 22 (Trinsic north of south bank)
7 33 15 28 (Britain 2storey,wooden building,2nd floor,between
east mage shop and river)
You will need thousands of lockpicks until you can open them and get
100 dex pretty fast :(
Make a macro last object ,last target,so you only need to press 1 key.
I go through about 600 locpicks in 1 hour,so i hope you have enough
money to buy them.Another possibility is to make them by yourself
by mining and tinkering.
So the skills you really need as a treasure hunter are cartography,
lockpicking,mining and tinkering !
It took me about 25 hours of mining, tinkering, lockpicking to
reach 96 lockpicking,but i started with 80 mining and 75 tinkering.
Have fun :)
Hm,i dont know how to raise it above 96,i doubt it raises with
player made chest,i tried a lot of chests in dungeons, but could
open them all immediately. As i see it ,the only possibility to
raise it ,is to train on a level 5 chest from a treasure map.

I first got it opened at about 76 skill, now its changed and I still can't
get it open!! Still its useful and safe for training purposes.
Lockpicking can get expensive if you get the bug :)

Just a matter of style, but at 80 skill level you can probably pick 1/2 the
crates and chests in dungeons. I would guess the average value of a dungeon
crate at just over 100 gold.
Just been checking it out the last few days, even level 1 Covetous has
crates with page 8 scrolls like resurection and summon elementals. I haven't
made it to the Covet Treasure Room yet, but then I haven't tried that hard
yet.(TC)
I am kind of in favor of characters being self supporting ASAP. I do have at
least a level 3 map so I think that means 90-99 lockpicking, but in between
now and 99 I may get most of the skill via practical experience vs picking
the same easy chest.
