Try the "rubbish". UOtrace may reveal some interesting differences in the
servers, although I would imagine that they'll all suffer from the
trans-atlantic.... The list is sorted by area code, not actual short
route...

I'm in Texas, and I currently play on a server (Sonoma) that is 5th on my
list and it seems far faster than the one I swithced from (oh yes,
"crash-a-peake"). It may just all be in my mind, though...

Mark,

I just started a new character last night on Catskills. It seems
pretty crowded already and the lag is really picking up. I was
lag-killed tonight and that hasn't happened to me in over a month
on the other servers.

Anyway, try it for a night and see how you like it. You really have
nothing to lose by trying it.

I was really disappinted with this new server the lag is the worst that I
have ever experienced and I am in NY. How can this be?

That "rubbish" is probably the only way you'll find a server that will work
for you. Do traces to all of them to find one with a route that isn't
tossing most of your packets in the circular file. Then try playing it. I've
found even servers with good traces can have gameplay problems...But a good
trace at least gives you a leg up on getting your data to/from the server.
Then all you need to worry about is what the server does with it ;-).

I have played on Crash-a-Peake for over two months as I am a lag
causer from th UK. My problem is the Catsick server is listed above
Ches. Do I start again or stay put. I put a test character on Cats
tonight and in the Yew valle it was wall to wall monster party with no
one to take them on. It did not seem any lag less than Ches on a
reasonable day. Or will everyone jump to Cats to get a fresh start ?
I have never bothered with the UOtrace and all that rubbish just took
the top of the list.
