I'm just curious...do horses still log out with you? Whenever I log in I am
not sitting on my horse anymore. Is that because of logging in or logging out?

I hate stables.

Yes.

When you login, you get dismounted. Who knows why. I have heard it said
that the client wants to load your paperdoll so it sends a double-click
to the server, but this doesn't seem to make sense. Who knows.

They logout with you if you are on top

It does...I tested it..
Close the paperdoll next time before you log-out..voilà..stay on horse with
the next login
That they won't fix it (double-click is not the only other command they can
send, otherwise you would dismount the horse by hitting alt+p, right?) is
just another good sign of their ignorance.

Yeah. Of course the only way to logout without using the paperdoll is to
close the app, which isn't great when you're just trying to switch
chars. So the result is that you always get dismounted.

The thing that doesn't jibe here is that you get the paperdoll anyway.
So they are sending a pair of double-clicks? First one to try (which
causes dismount), the second to try again? Would they just keep sending
double-clicks if I hide the character altogether? Why not just have the
freaking client call the local function that displays the gump? Its not
like there's a big transaction involved.

It makes little sense for them to actually emulate a double-click. It's
the hard way to go about it.

Hiding also, for me, has always kept Titan under me. If you hide before
you log out, your horse hides too, and goes with you. I've yet to lose a
horse when I hide then log out.

Your horse thinks you need a bath, and throws you off. <nudge>

Actually, sometimes it doesn't.

i still find it amusing that when you hide on a horse your shadow
dissappears but the horses doesn't

Don't have a problem with that..only one char on SP ;)

No

They only send one double-click. The paperdoll does not open when you are on
the horse. Test it..

Want to see something really interesting?
Friend your horse to someone and then let that person log out in an inn,
while no one is on the horse.
The horse disappears...it becomes invisible...you can 'shove' through it and
when you tell it to follow you, it appears again..
Don't ask me what's the sense in that..

It's odd I have one character that falls off his horse when he logs in
and another on the same shard that stays on.

I thought it had something to do with if your paperdoll was open when
you logged out. If it's open then you fall off your horse, if not then
you stay on. I don't know the logic behind it, though.

|Yeah, I have a couple of each kind. I usually log out hidden so when
|I log in, it's fun to see a newbie surprised by a horse magically
|appearing in the shop and then vanishing as I double click on it to
|mount it. It'd be nice if OSI would forget adding new features for a
|while and just spend some time repairing all the trivial bugs that
|have been around for 2 years like this one. Fixing the moongates
|would be nice too. Oh well, guess you can't attract new players with
|slogans like "nothing new added but all the 2 year old bugs are gone".

Advertising "Lots of new stuff PLUS 2 year's worth of bugs" isn't so
great either hehe
