Do you have physical proof or some sort of credible log that these
people "hacked" your friend's account?
And, by the way; paging the GMs like you are doing only serves to
worsen the service they already provide. If I was the GM on staff, I
would ignore every single one of your queries.

The concern is apparently regaining the tower, in which case the best
thing to do is find out who the hacker is. Pressing charges won't get
the tower back, but the threat of pressing charges should do. Solaria
says she got hit by netbus sent over icq(sender's icq # is 5578357), she
has a last used IP address(205.152.131.227) and a couple e-mail
addresses(one is hotmail, dead end, the other is thre...@petronet.net),
see if those get anywhere.

Well, the icq number pulls up a user called Xtreme with a lot of junk
information. However the user does refer to LD and LDoV.

I would've posted the following info before, but I forgot I didn't have
a shell account anymore, had to dig up some utils.
Anyways, the ip address matches ppp227.petronet.net, probably a dial-up
account. The e-mail address matches an account name of Lee Price.
More info to follow....
-Smedley, Summoner of Daemons
Oh, incidently, for all I know this account could've been hacked too.
-Smedley, Summoner of Daemons
Well, it seems that is the ICQ of Xtreme, a member of the Lost
Descendants of Virtue, an LS guild. You might want to talk to them.

Here ya go.

Please let us know how it goes.

Rio of Sonoma found two by the name of Lee Price in the area serviced by

Somebody ask Solaria if she wants to press charges.

And even if you get it back it's just more evidence of hacking. I'd
still go after their sorry asses through the legal system.

BTW this guy is a cracker. Hackers have a code of ethics. Crackers do not.

Good point. Guess I was too caught up with all that was going on at the
tower. Damn, there were reps from so many guilds there.....
-Smedley, Summoner of Daemons
The owner of the compromised account has been so informed.

Heh, the "Cracker" term's origin lies in some hackers that didn't want
to be associated with those that hack for destructive or illegal
purposes. Besides, all he did was d/l a trojan horse and follow some
instructions, better term would be "script kiddie" :P

No, I agree with Pournelle -- all these terms like "cracker" and "pirate"
are meant to romanticize a type of person better known by another name:
"criminal".

I'm lost. Whats romantic about those terms?

I strongly urge that you contact the suspect before pressing charges.
Maybe their account was hacked, maybe their little brother got on the
account and is the real culprit, maybe they're so sorry that they'll
give everything back plus some, or maybe it isn't even the correct IP
address, but you won't know until you ask.
Always give the other guy the option to fold before showing your hand.

GM Grond contacted me today and asked for Solaria's email addy. I
have him Solaria's, yours, a link to the New Fawn web site, a summary
of events, and the ICQ#, email and IP addresses that had been posted
here.
