Anyone tried to kill a guard? I'm guessing they can die given enough people
attacking them, but they seem to be 'quite tough'. Accounts of any
experiences in guard-killing would be much appreciated :)

Cheers,
Jado - useless newbie ;)

Not that I'm panning on doing this of course, I've just seen the efficiency
of them in dealing with anyone/thing that causes a problem and wondered if
they could be beaten.

Cheers,
Jado.

It IS possible, in theory. I've once seen a guard killing another guard
(don't ask me how one managed to flag a guard criminal, but there has
been a trick with pets). The guards exchanged some halberd hits and it
almost looked like a normal fight. The health bar of the surviving guard
was half red after the fight. To estimate his hitpoints and strength we
casted several heals at him, a GM mage can heal one pixel of his bar
with around 5-10 greater heals. The strength of a guard seems to be
30000+, in other words they don't instakill, they just have a very large
strenght damage bonus.

If you manage to poison a guard directly or with a energy vortex you can
wath his health bar dropping to zero, when it's full red he says something
like "it requires more than this to kill me", but he won't drop dead.

I've never seen anyone (or any group try). The problem is that you wouldn't
have to deal with just one guard, as soon as the first killed it's first and
everyone attacked him, other guards would be called by the first.

I think the guards would still win, w/o any caualties on their side. :-)

I think I killed one once before....or at least the equivalent of one. Remember
in Abyss that the animal trainers were like guards and couldn't be killed?
Well.....one day I was walking by the stables of Papua and I saw this red guy
casting EVs on one of the animal trainers. When I asked him what was he doing
he told me that he had been trying to kill the "bastard" all nite (It was like
6:00 am) and by now he had his health bar almost full red. Since he looked a
lil tired of casting I decided to give him a hand and starting casting EVs as
well.....after aproximately 12 EVs his health bar was full red but just when we
were close to finish him off the Other guy apparently lost conn or something
because the NPC caught him and killed him, so I thought I would finish him off
myself, and after half an hour of casting EVs I finally killed him.
When I tried to loot him he had all sort of mini horses, dragons, white wyrms,
and a couple of nightmares on his corpse. Unfortunately I couldn't pick them up
and when I clicked on them I would get the "So n So refuses to let you ride
him" message.
So in theory , yes you should be able to kill guards.....It just takes a MUCH
MORE longer time to kill, than a regular NPC.

Used to happen all the time, back when people could gate poison
nasties in to town. If you want to try I suggest deadly poisoning a
newbie weapon.

YES don't kill the stable masters hehe. The only reason I did it was because I
was curious to know what would happen. Now that I come to think about it, it
was a pretty stupid thing to becuase I didn't get anything good by killing it,
and not only that but lots of ppl lost their horses (but since It was Abyss, I
didn't really felt bad about it). And of course It's is just a pointless waste
of time and money (regs) not to mention that most probably you'll get killed.

I used to, but it is kind of pointless. Costs thousands in reagents casting
things like blade spirits, and everything a guard has is just normal
equipment.

That is, you may spend 5 hours killing a guard to get a normal halberd and a
suit of plate that doesn't even have gloves.

BTW: Don't kill the stable masters as someone else has mentioned doing.
Everyone that has an animal loses it.

There's this one guard post i've visited on several shards, just a ways out of
Trinsic..
it always has one guard inside(who's got okay loot in their pack, 350 gold, a
gem or 2, and a piece of jewelry on one shard)
so, this guard CAN'T call helpers, and might be a fun project for a HUGE
semi-evil inclined guild to take on, if guards are really all they're cracked
up to be. And i'd love to see the screenshot of all the dead meleers, and all
the live mages.(hehe), might be an interesting posting.

*shrugs*

btw, I've been one-shotted by this guard a couple times, by attacking when i
was bored, so the stats are like any other guard..

Ive killed with a friend a Animal Taimer, it took like 5 hours, but he
casted poison on him and i rezed him after the guards kill him, coz EV got
killed by guards in seconds, and poison keeps working,
U cant get a thing of the A.T. ;(
we also got 2 councelours trying to change our minds about killing the A.T.,
the pets dies when he dies ;o))))))
we made lots of enemies that day, hopefully, they didnt know who we where ;)

I have bugged/expoited maybe a 2-4 times to OSI. I think they have it taken
care of by making stable master invunerable.

I think there may still be an exploit with archery for shards that don't
have invunerable stable masters, I haven't checked them lately so I don't
know which ones have it.

back in the old days, before chaos/order...you had to kill guards in
order to get a chaos or order shield...they were very rare back then
to say the least...basically involved trapping a guard with boxes and
casting firefield on him.....might you this was before instant kill
guards, teleporting guards, and untrappable npcs.
