I'm playing UO already for 1.5 year now, but never got really rich. I can
make +/-1000gp/day by fighting monsters but that's all.
What's the best way to get monney? How do people get 100K for a deed?
Please submit your post here or at s...@gamesfeedback.com
thanks everyone!

Hmmm....
I don't normally like these kinds of posts, but here goes.
There are three really good ways to get rich.
a) Power tailoring. I'm not talking about killing animals and working
for advancment, I mean make a character with 50 tailoring (a mule) go to
tailor shops and buy thread, use thread to make bolts, turn into fancy
shirts and recall from tilor shop to tailor shop untill you're rich
beyond the dreams of Creusus.
b) Escorting. Actually, this is more of a "I need 5k real quick" kind
of get rich quick scheme. Find the spawn points, and escort travelers
through gates. When i first log on, i make about 2k in 15 minutes doing
this.
c) PKing. Let's face it, that's what this game is all about at times.
Plus you get the added benifit of ruining any chance o social
interaction on the shard!
Sad, isn't it?
Here's the thing though. Riches do not bring ou happiness. I give most
of my cash away to newbies anyways. More fufilling. Enjoy your time in
UO and leave the money to the powergamers.
Great Bob

Damn you! I am only making three thousand a day with bowyering, and I though
I was well off.
Then there's bowyering. Chop wood, make bows out of 7 logs and sell them for
40gp each.
That's the quickest way to make money that I've seen.
Honestly, about the best way is to get a vendor, put it in your house and
put a variety of items on it to see what sells. Whatever sells, keep
restocking it.
Good luck and go with the virtues.

Well, first thing is don't become a mage, alchemist, or blacksmith.
The raw materials needed to advance these skills get very expensive. As
for making the money, tailoring and escorting work well for me.
Escorting can be faster for a few thousand but depending on when you
play, escorts can be extremely hard to find. (I also don't suggest much
escorting if you can't gate.) Tailoring seems to be the best way to go.
I tailored one evening for about 3 and half hours or so and made 20K.
But, I spend it up so fast that I've never had more than 55K in the bank
ever.

Let's see if I have this straight...You've been playing for around 540 days,
makin
+/- 1000 per day, and you can't save up a mere 100k?
>What's the best way to get money?
The best way to get money is gather a few friends together and tromp off to
the local spawn area and KILL something. Monsters have loot. Myself, and 2
friends, cleared 400+k in 4 months. In dungeon Wrong, no less (wimpy
trolls)! And then we happily placed our tower the day before the "housing
patch" went in!
>How do people get 100K for a deed?
They work their asses off in their chosen field, and SAVE...SAVE...SAVE!
But, there's really no point now...there's no real-estate left on which to
place that 100k deed.

Heh.
Ask Dundee how much a power tailor can make.
I believe it took a week for him to save up enough for a tower.

Because it is *really* hard to become a high-level carpenter/smith. :)
The guy asked for a "fast" way ... which means he doesn't want to chop
wood for weeks. Also, with limited land on the servers, at some point
the demand for house add-ons *will* decrease drastically. They won't be
adding new craftables every week. So, for those who are already capable
of making these add-ons it is a great way to make money (right, Sam?
<grin>), but I doubt there will be much reward for players who start a
carpenter now. Tailoring is 3-6k an hour, and even though it's totally
boring, there is probably no better/faster way to make money (but hey,
my main characters are a scribe, a bard and a fisherman ... none of
these professions is very profitable).

I love crafting!!!!
*nods* It is hard becomming a Master Carpenter with the new
changes, Raising blacksmithing is easier then Carpentry
(Carpentry costs less tho)

No? Aaaaaaargh *grins*
Serious tho, I see that a lot of people keep redecorating
their homes, wich is nice (and good for business). And still
people sell their houses, if you have a look at the right
sites, you'll see that every week another person is buying
or selling (*rubes his hands* Another customer). They can't
move the add-ons, if you want to place it somewhere else:
Take an axe, chop it down, buy another and place. So there
will always be a replacement market. And when people
decorate their houses nicely, other will want to do that to
(the "wanna wanna" effect)

Yep... You'll have to marcket tho! Especially if your shop
is so far away from all the traffic (desert nort of Britain,
the town of Valendor on Drachenfels). But if people find
your shop, they will keep comming back.

Safe $$$ is on tailoring
the funnest $$ is the Magic weapon trade and the Nightmare trade-
IMO
20K per day is the figure you should be looking at as reasonable.
Skills that yeild less (If $$$ is indeed your priority) are a step in
the wrong direction.

Don't get too excited about these figures.
It is nearly physically impossible to sew more than 2000 Robes in a 10
hour day. To a GM tailor that is 80K in stock. Which works well with
some of the figures you have seen, like 34K in 4 hours etc...
The problem is: this doesn't account for finding, walking to, and
buying the thread. It doesn't account for turning the thread into
bolts. It doesn't account for selling your stock. It doesn't account
for keeping sewing kits in stock. 80K per day in stock amounts to
sitting in your house and tailoring 320 Bolts of cloth that are already
there. Over 15,000 yards! It takes hours just to turn this much thread
into cloth.
Most tailors at one time or another experience the great misfortune of
never being able to get their paws on ANY thread for a whole day.
Chances are these people had a stock of bolts already in the bank. So
don't be under the impression that 7 10-hour days will rake in
560K because it just isn't going to happen.
1. Mark runes to the tailor shops. Solves both the thread problem and
tailors not buying.
2. UOA macros to work the loom and sell items while tailoring.
3. It can be done, it has been done.

Frieghtening...that is the point of cheating though..making things that
can't be done, done.

It's item #1 that is key to making a fortune tailoring, not UOA
macros. UOA just saves a lot of clicking. Shade collects thread and
weaves bolts while I sew robes.
Nothing but robes, and we change shops when they stop buying robes.
'Course that's with a partner, but a person with a loom at home could
quite easily recall around collecting thread, sew it at home, then
recall around selling the clothes.
See, the real problem with UO, is recall.
