|Bad news, apparently, is that they're moving the east coast servers to
|another globalcenter location. It appears to indicate that since the
|current location isn't going to be responsible for the machines much longer
|anyway, they're just ignoring them, and letting the connections crash at
|will. That's one theory at least.
| Perhaps we can look forward to bigger and better crashes at the new
|location?

I'm having Great Lakes flashbacks...
As soon as I hit GM archery on GL last spring, they moved the shard to
Texas. I was never able to play there again. UOTrace showed extremely
poor connections though I don't recall the exact numbers. After several
weeks of standing at the bank praying for the lag to clear I finally
gave all my stuff away and started from scratch on Atlantic. I left UO
completely for six months and started over a few months ago and guess
what -- I just hit GM archery. Now they are moving Atlantic!!!
I really felt that OSI should have been a little more supportive during
that fiasco. I'd say 30% of the people I knew on GL had to switch
shards. We were told it was a temporary move but to the best of my
knowledge it's still in Texas. GL was fine for all of us until they
moved it, but OSI offered no condolences or aid in rebuilding what they
had taken away from us. Sure, it's all virtual items, but it took a lot
of tedious work and real time to earn it and just as much to rebuild.
At least this time if they screw it up I will be able to transfer my
gold to another shard via one of the shard trading companies. I'm
worried, however, that I will once again have to leave my guildmates
and friends.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that THIS move will be an improvement.
