I'm playing Freedoom 0.5 under prboom (Linux). I stuck in a certain
section of "The Courtyard" (level 18).

I'm stuck in the part of the map where you get the chainsaw. To get out
of this section, you have to quickly click two buttons (shaped as
skulls) and run through an open door. You then enter a small dark
passageway that has no exit (other
than the way you came).

At the end of the passageway, there is clearly a door; however, it
doesn't open, and I can find no buttons to open it. "The Courtyard" is
listed as "done," so there must be a way out, but how?

To demonstrate more clearly where I'm stuck, I've posted a couple of
images of my game position; the first image was taken before I went into
the small dark passageway because it's too dark in there; I've placed an
arrow on the second image showing the door that won't open.

The images are posted here:

I don't have a Doom client to hand, but I've had a look in Yadex. The
door at the end of the corridor has the side facing you be D1 Open Door
(stays open) - the other side is not active at all. So the intention is
that you can open the door from the corridor and it will then stay open.

However, there's a WR Open Door line in the passageway 16 units in front
of it which opens something elsewhere in the level. Now with the door
closed you can't get over that line to activate it, and so the line first
in front of you when you whack the spacebar (or whatever) is that one, not
the door. _Some_ Doom clients will notice and let you open the door, and I
guess the author used one of those and didn't consider compatibility.

Recommend you try noclipping right up to the door and opening it.

Thank you very much David. That idea allowed me to open the door and
finish the game.

I guess this means that I won't be able to record a demo of me finishing
the Courtyard because the recording mode prohibits cheating in prboom.
But the game is still fun!
