I think they'll be complete some time Thursday afternoon, at which time
detailed totals by region will be released.
A total of 4379 ballots were received.
Thanks. Some comments and conclusions:
- Goichberg slate is virtually assured of getting elected with a huge
margin. It is not really G's slate but more like all important players
agreeing to get together to fight a common enemy and save USCF by
selecting the best candidates.
- This is the most one-sided election in recent times.
- Polgar's slate is wiped out. This time it is clear that her
endorsement as well as their refusal to condemn Polgar lawsuits hurt
them. Look at Korenman's numbers this time vs the last time as you can
see Polgar effect bringing him down. Number of people have mentioned
that they would have voted for K if were not in Polgar slate (also
applies to a lesser extent to others in her slate). Lugo and Hecht can
pick up as Florida isn't yet counted but they are too far back to win.
It shows that facts are more important than propaganda.
- It increases the chances of a settlement as Polgar can't delay the
case much more than she already has. And she has to wait two more
years for next election.
- BL gets almost same number of votes as Sloan and Polgar slate
despite dropping out well in advance.
- Pity seeing good guy like Brian Mottershead in the last place. But
then he shouldn't have contested or at least should have dropped out
like BL.
Here are the final totals, detailed totals by region will be available
on the USCF home page later today:
1. Jim Berry 3030
2. Bill Goichberg 3014
3. Ruth Haring 2953
4. Mike Atkins 2672
5. Mikhail Korenman 822
6. Mike Nietman 732
7. Eric Hecht 717
8. Blas Lugo 657
9. Sam Sloan 588
10. Brian Lafferty 576
11. Brian Mottershead 435
The people with the most votes go forward to the electoral college
section. Lowest votes are struck out and second choices redistributed.
Finally, the 3 Epopts http://betafive.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/st-menagerie.jpg
make their decision as to who will be elevated to the sublime degree
of USCF president.
