Celebrated British Chess Grand Master Dr Nigel Short complimented
Pakistan cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq for his composure and patience,
key attributes according to him that helped his team to take an
unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match test series.
“He’s (Misbah) not flamboyant and fully focused on his job as captain
and did it in style,” Short, an avid cricket follower, said.
“Misbah is very cool and composed which impressed me. Pakistan really
played smart cricket and I am surprised with England’s mediocre
batting,” he said.
“England batting crashed against Ajmal and Rehman like a train despite
the presence of top batsmen in the England lineup,” he said.
He added that while the series was turning out to be great for Pakistan
and its supporters, the English were clearly not amused.
Short is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistan Chess Players
Association (PCPA) as their Guest of Honor for the ongoing Zahiruddin
Farooqui Trophy.
